There must be something useful here...

thoughts @khalidabuhakmeh ?

I'm mostly re-using some Perla bits and re-injecting the import map manually (it also needs to escape @ chars in the import map), but I'm sure there might be better ways within aspnet to automatize this stuff, like maybe tag helpers that read the importmap?

@angelmunoz a tag helper makes a lot of sense. I will say, there's no need to be stingy with them. Having one in the layout is fine since resources only get loaded on import.

This article is brutal, but I can see how #XBOX fans can feel this way.

Not that I want to give Microsoft any advice, but if Phil Spencer is saying people won't switch to XBOX because of digital libraries, then a technique to get folks to switch over would be to make whole that digital library when buying a new XBOX.

There a first-party exclusives but there are a lot that aren't.

If folks could retain 80% of their library then it would make it more appealing.

If Apple ever wanted to build a search engine, now would be the time to do it.

While search companies are breaching the contract they have with content creators, Apple can counter-program the fad and bring a quality experience back to search.

AI search is the death of individual voices and personal blogs.

We'll all be churned into a homogeneous answering machine goo.

Thanks big tech 👍

khalidabuhakmeh,
@khalidabuhakmeh@mastodon.social avatar

@damieng but how do you find an audience? Right now it's about competing on ideas and solutions.

If search engines are transitioning into answer engines, then creators get pushed from the main stage to the backstage.

khalidabuhakmeh,
@khalidabuhakmeh@mastodon.social avatar

@damieng Serious question, how will we opt out of this as authors? I don't think we can.

I'm up for participating if these tools do a better job crediting authors and compensating individuals for their work.

@Asymmetricblue @damieng imagine if a .txt file could stop a multinational corporation from stealing content. 😅

🌶️ Hot Friday Take: should make Task transparent and let you async/await without it contaminating the entire codebase.

This would be a breaking change, but make it easier for folks coming from other languages. Maybe in .NET 37

@khalidabuhakmeh@mastodon.social avatar

@turnerj @KirillOsenkov yes, it doesn't change the consumption side. You get a task.

@kkukshtel @filipw @KirillOsenkov there already are languages on the CLR like IronRuby, IronPython, and J#.

khalidabuhakmeh,
@khalidabuhakmeh@mastodon.social avatar

@patriksvensson @KirillOsenkov @filipw @xoofx cool. I've been casually following Mew. What features are you adding that you feel C# is missing? Or is it more a learning experience?

khalidabuhakmeh,
@khalidabuhakmeh@mastodon.social avatar

@kkukshtel @filipw @KirillOsenkov they can at the project level. Same way you can reference a C# project in an F# project.

khalidabuhakmeh,
@khalidabuhakmeh@mastodon.social avatar

@kkukshtel @filipw @KirillOsenkov I guess a better example of what you're thinking about would be XAML and Razor.

khalidabuhakmeh,
@khalidabuhakmeh@mastodon.social avatar

@Pxtl what do you mean? Example please.

khalidabuhakmeh,
@khalidabuhakmeh@mastodon.social avatar

@kkukshtel @KirillOsenkov @filipw yep, Immo's series is pretty good.
