Noticed a house about 100-200 feet away has an anemometer, and I'm guessing other weather related sensors. Wonder if I can get an SDR to pick up the signal and if its rude to do so…

@paul See if the station is already up on aprs.fi as a WX station. I grab local weather info off RF all the time using Home Assistant and Rtl_433 or use command line Rtl_433 with a RTLSDR. No need to ask permission, no access code or impact on the transmitter at all and no expectation of permission. Just don't complain if it goes away!!!!

I love American mass transit.

I’m in Orlando and I need to travel 1.4 miles to a stadium from my hotel and step 1 is to walk 0.9 miles to a bus stop, then take the bus the final 0.5 miles.

I've been running ubuntu with the default gnome desktop for a week on one computer, and the clock in the top middle of the screen... cannot be moved? I cannot ever find it without looking at the bottom right, top right, and top left corner first. 😒

Made a time lapse of some shots I took with my old SLR on a tripod. 30 second shutter each frame. Ignore the Bullseye, that's an artifact of my cheapo UV filter!

@bikepedantic My wife's smallish engineering company started one (I think one of the principals spouse's was in academia and they saw how good it was) She got a 4 week off block after 7 years or so. It was great.

@ai6yr The winds kept growing all day yesterday and just steadily got more and more powerful all night long, kept me up for a while due to the noise and shaking here just outside of Boston. We have power, but there’s some small piles of sleet/snow on the ground in places and the wind is still going. Some sort of winter mix is still falling but not really piling up.

The storm that passed through Massachusetts last night knocked an incredible amount of brand new buds off of the trees. I’m sure millions of years of evolution means the trees are able to “weather the storm” OK, but I wonder if it will have some sort of impact, especially on the fruit trees.

@ai6yr @cookiesinheaven (sorry about the funeral) It would be interesting to see a CO2 reading from that room to see if there was any behind the scenes air exchange going on....I noticed my kids school is ripping out a ton of air filters, I hope they are replacing them with good high capacity central air filtering, but haven't heard back about the project yet.

Plenty of Americans dropped Covid testing & isolation periods long ago. Many schools/workplaces hadn’t been enforcing the stricter CDC guidance. Many doctors: common sense should guide you. If you feel sick, stay home -be more cautious around more vul-.

@KimPerales If tests cost a dollar (and tested for Covid, Flu, RSV like in Germany) we'd probably have a lot more testing going on. As it is, it costs the average person $15 a test which means people don't test.

I really don't understand why we didn't just roll out a national testing foundation to make tests cheap, comprehensive and accurate.
