Agreed on all points! If Home Assistant can add an extension system to easily add new intents like OVOS then it would have an explosion of features. Surely that is on the near horizon.

Another great day for a run! Hill repeats! Into the wind! My allergies are killing me now though.

My Garmin stats exporter is coming along pretty well. All the rendering logic is pretty solid now. Time to start working on a better UI! And yes, this template is shamelessly copied from Garmin😂

I started off writing all the rendering logic with PIL but when I started making it generic I realized I was just building a crappy graphics description language. After a moment of thought I pivoted to use SVG for the rendering and Jinja for templating it. It should be fun to see what kind of templates people come up with after I release this thing. Assuming anyone wants an app for posting #Garmin activities to Mastodon.

Some days ago I setup #UniFi Network on my #RaspberryPi 3, despite the sys. requirements of min 2GB RAM.

That went well for a couple of days, but that changed.

So now I can buy the 2GB RPi 4 or buy the more expensive UniFi Express and let it do its magic.

So... what should I do?

Sidenote: I am pretty impressed with the UniFi system so far. It's expensive, but it works like a charm.

I feel like there's room for some other options. Are you dead set on using an RPi? There's cheaper used x86 machines that'll give you more bang fire your buck. I run UniFi in a container and it works great.

    Yeah, it would be an interesting way for servers to differentiate themselves, but ultimately it should be user controlled. Curation can be valuable, but we absolutely should not give up that control lightly nor entirely.

    I live in a neighboring state that is nearly as bad and aspires to be worse. There are few reasons to live here and considerably fewer to visit. The only thing holding this part of the country back from being a total hell hole are the comparatively liberal metropolitan areas.
