Mostly wear contacts but in the early 2010s went through a bunch of $$$$ pairs of glasses that all fell apart or had major problems within 1-2 years. Basically just expensive junk. These fragile looking wireframes I got at Target Optical for maybe half that price have been jammed in my suitcase or backpack without a case a million times and have survived like a Nokia brick phone. Not going to splurge on that particular purchase ever again because it seems like an inverse relationship to quality.

the 401(k) system is just... not designed for the way people are using it. i have so many abandoned accounts that i need to eventually "rollover". every firm has totally different options and rules for how the money accumulates and none of it makes any sense. and even making a fairly high income in no way would it ever amount to enough money to retire on, maybe serve as an emergency fund if i ended up old and sick for a year or something to get on my feet again. that's it.

Yeah you can't install anything in a normal amount of effort that's a minor problem. Even really basic dependencies just to get going, or stuff like VS Code, after an hour of wrangling with it I went back to just booting Mac OS. I'd love to see this work, but right now it's just another thing that "has potential" (aka isn't ready to use for anything yet).

I was talking with a friend last night about her work in B2B sales and I asked if she thought she could do better doing tech/software sales and she looked at me like I had 3 heads

"I've tried it. It's too hard to close a deal and actually take credit for anything and get a commission" was a somewhat paraphrased version of the response

This tracks tbh, too many companies have confusing/convoluted business models where it's hard to find the actual product and figure out how to pay for it
