Those who dismiss or deride BASIC don't go beyond the language. Guillaume Chereau points out there's more to BASIC as on early microcomputers it provided a full development environment too, almost an IDE.

I'd say BASIC also supported a REPL-based, exploratory programming style similar to Lisp's.

End of year Director roundup!

The end of the year is almost upon us, along with a new release of ScummVM.

So here's a quick update for one of the more ambitious sub-projects that has been percolating along in the background: Macromedia Director support!

For those who aren't aware, Macromedia Director was a popular framework used for thousands of games, educational titles, catalogues, art pieces, and other multimedia works.

I've worked really hard to build a science community where all are welcome. We are queer & straight, able and disabled, and every color & many religions/not.

We did what we could to make Sarah Tuttle's graphic true.
