In 2022 SCOTUS ruled 6-3 that public school teachers & other staff can lead students in prayer.

Now Louisiana will require all schools that receive public funding to display the Ten Commandments, including colleges and universities.

If it’s prayer these guys want, if you’re a public school teacher who wants to learn the Islamic call to prayer, i.e. the Adhaan, to teach your students, let me know.🙃

“A Futile and Empty Gesture” - Doug Kenney founded National Lampoon, produced both “Animal House” and “Caddyshack”, and discovered/assembled the team that Lorne Michaels effectively stole to start SNL

I was introduced last week to the concept of an “accountability sink”; a structural technique for saying “the rules/tools/processes made me do it” and therefore avoiding accountability. They aren’t universally bad but booooy is AI going to create a lot of them in bad places, like (checks notes) killing civilians.

There's a mysterious new, undocumented model in the https://chat.lmsys.org/ arena chat tool called "gpt2-chatbot" - you can access it by selecting "Direct Chat" and then picking it from the big select menu there

It's providing responses that feel significantly more impressive than GPT-4, for both factual-knowledge lookup and logic puzzles. It's possible this is a stealth preview launch of something like GPT-4.5

@TonyStark @Barbramon1 Well, agreed, but it somewhat counters the basic premise of why they’d choose Kennedy over Biden. DeSantis’ campaign showed that there just isn’t that much to draw on in terms of third-candidate support. Unclear to me why we’d expect Kennedy to be any more successful than DeSantis or any other non-Trump Republican was, or how Biden’s strategy would change. Seems the best approach is still reducing Trump’s core draw

It’s a dead heat right now, but current trends show that gap widening. That said, likely voter polls 6 months out from an election are kinda pointless for anything but getting clicks and selling ads

@TonyStark @Barbramon1 No, he wasn’t, but it’s much easier to draw votes as a D or R than an I, in every measurable way. His (very famous) family is publicly endorsing the opposition. He’ll only be on the ballot in two or three states.

I get it - the stakes are high. But too much pessimism will kill your chances just as much as too much optimism. Given what we currently know, Kennedy isn’t a realistic threat to Biden or Trump.
