"Windows or Linux?"
Every time I set up a new laptop for myself or an employee, I go through a brief tradeoff analysis. It's never an easy choice, but it's getting easier.
I don't recall which #infosec person inspired me to create a security/cyber policy page on our company website, and security.txt files on our apps, but I am glad we did.
We received our first vulnerability notification email last night and it was fixed today. Grateful for the white hats out there. 🙌
I am looking for a way to share a limited set of files (typically docs and spreadsheets) with 3-5 remote people. Different people need different access, so not wide-open.
Not google docs, not dropbox, not Microsoft. I would prefer a FOSS thing that I can set up and host.
Any suggestions? NextCloud seems like overkill, but maybe I should just bite the bullet and set it up.
@coreysnipes@adamsteer#onlyoffice ? I used it in one project several years ago (15 people) and it was fine (from user's point of view).
Never hosted it though. But now I remembered about it, I might.
@coreysnipes wow, congrats! Went to check my coverage (guessing 40-50%) but I don't love that they seem to require access to private activities (on Strava at least) even though their integration settings say they don't. 🫤
@coreysnipes And to follow up on this, I emailed feedback to the developer and he replied right away w/ a good explanation for why the Strava API permissions are like that. I'm impressed!
Picked up my first pair of Altra trail shoes (Outroad 2) today. I took a short run and I like them so far. I like Altra's commitment to the natural human foot shape, with the wide toe box and zero drop. At least I like the idea of it. Saturday's 5K will tell me more.
@coreysnipes well, keep us informed 👍🏻 I am about (end of this month) to retire my two current pairs of Cloud Tec shoes, lots of miles on them but I am still not totally happy.
I don't normally get into dance, but I've watched this five times since I came across it yesterday and it's stunning every time. Beyond the incredible choreography - the clothing, colors, lighting, camera work, editing, everything. 🚀 🌔 Possibly the first American moon landing in 50 years, scheduled for later today. A commercial vehicle is carrying NASA science payloads but no crew. Pretty cool.
My father was not a computer guy, but he was pretty good with machines. I learned a lot from him.
When he was in his early 70s, he spent some time learning how to use my mom’s Mac so that he could write his memoirs. I recently scanned the old dot-matrix printed pages, fixed all the OCR, and posted them on my blog.
He lived from 1922-2008 and it was nice to reconnect with him through this project.
@coreysnipes I just finished reading all of his memoirs. I wanted to thank you for sharing them, I enjoyed them very much and felt a close connection to your father even though I never met him. He had a long and fascinating life.
@coreysnipes I confess that in the winter, I like to find places where I can part the car facing where the drone will be flying. It's much nicer sitting in a climate controlled car while the drone is out working in the cold.
@aeronaute@coreysnipes My first winter flying my drone. Spent the better part of last weekend getting some shots. The first battery worth of flight I stood outside but after that I got in the car. Thank goodness I got the DJI RC controller and the car didn't interfere too much. Glad to see I'm not the only one using that strategy.
