LOL, garage sale bargain of the day. I had been thinking about finding a new Ikea desk lamp for a bedside table (very low priority), but hadn't figured anything out and Ikea is 50 miles away. Ran across someone at a garage sale and they had this Ikea lamp... which they sold to me for 25 cents. Even better than Ikea (secondhand, nearby Ikea stuff for basically nothing)!

... and it was the job of the reader to notice and decode these symbols

He thought this was nonsense

So he sent a letter to 150 well-known authors asking if they did this

Fully 75 replied! Ray Bradbury, Saul Bellow, Ayn Rand

Their answers were wild
