Happy Tuesday, Masto! I’ve got a fun story to share.

So this morning I’m drinking coffee around 630am, and I see someone go running across our front yard. Weird. Then, my wife wakes up bc she hears people talking outside one of our bedroom windows.

I hear police sirens outside. Then, our alarm system alerts me to people in the backyard. Shit is getting concerning. (1/5)

I look at the backyard security cam, and its two guys (late teens/early 20s) frantically pacing around, looking all over. My wife calls 911.

Before she can even fully tell 911 what is going on, we look outside and there are 5 cops surriouding our property. Some with guns drawn.

I see on the security cam that the two kids went behind our detached garage and direct the cops there through a window. Cops check and no one is there. They must have hopped the fence. (2/5)

We call the police to tell them about this (mostly bc we want to know wtf is going on). Turns out there was a robbery that led to a car jacking that led to a chase that ended up in our neighborhood. They caught one kid. The other two still on the run. They asked for our video footage (which despite my distrust of police, I gave them bc I feel like armed robbery and car jacking is something that police should be engaged on).

How is everyone else’s days going? (5/5)

I ask what’s going on? A cop replies, “oh just some robbery stuff.”

Fast forward to four hours later—around 10:30am.

I’m working from home and our security system alerts me to people in the backyard. I open the app and it’s the same two kids. I then see them sprinting from our backyard to the street. They jumped our fence (solid hurdle) and hop into a car and speed off. (3/5)

Few minutes later, our doorbell rings. It’s a neighbor we never met asking if we were ok. She saw the two kids running and one had a gun. I look back at the security footage and they must have hidden a gun in the tree and came back for it. (4/5)

@richkny Nice. I’ve read mixed reviews on Ryobi but they seem to offer a lot of value. I also went 40v mower and I have an 18v driver/drill that I love.

I was told it’s important to stick to one brand so you can swap batteries and shit.

@blueemu Yes. And plenty of African Americans and women will vote for Trump. Voting (or abstaining from voting) against one’s own interests is not uncommon.

None of this changes the truth that the brunt of the evil of a Republican regime will be aimed at minority groups, women, and the poor—while white men won’t have their lives disrupted.

@blueemu @bethbjammin @Stoneycase Tim, vote how you want. I mean that. I sincerely admire your conviction. But just as you are willing to put your feelings out there, I’m going to put mine out there.

To me this is a simple choice. We saw what happened in 2000 & 2016 under not-so-different circumstances. It did not turn out well. Plus, it’s an undeniable fact that Republican rule hurts women, minorities & the poor far more than straight, white men. So that is big on my conscience.

I’d be ok with banning popcorn.

I mean, I don’t dislike it as a vessel for butter and/or sugar/spice. But I certainly wouldn’t miss it if it was gone. So much shit to pick out of your teeth. Always the potential for a tooth-cracking unpopped kernel.

Popcorn has earned more of our love than it deserves.
