Finally got that Mac Clone, but it seems to be finicky, it wouldn’t chime. Maybe have to do with the PRAM, but I put a new battery. May have to clean the contacts and reseat everything. Maybe it’s time to replace the PSU too since it can use a regular ATX PSU (pinouts are the same from reading the posts on 68kmla and tinkerdifferent)

Noticed the cache card is missing, so I probably need to install the G3 accelerator card.

Minase Inori is apparently coming out with a mini album that comes out in August.

You know what I have to do. :leafeonmoney:

This day (June 4th) marks the 25th anniversary of Kanon's release.

Hopefully, the HD remaster announced in May will release soon.

@sakuramochi55 The funny thing is that I think this is the third Kyoto Animation anime I watched when I got back into anime, definitely a classic.

I think there were a few endings I didn’t complete, but those H scenes made no sense whatsoever, probably best to be forgotten.

@yon I got this SATA card for the Power Computing clone that is coming soon, and this is practically the easiest card to flash, to make it work on a Mac. Just in case if you are interested.

https://amausaan.tokyo/rabbit-hole-computing-hard-card-impressions-the-easiest-to-flash-sata-m-2-sata-pci-card-to-make-it-mac-os-9-or-earlier-bootable/

chikorita157,
@chikorita157@sakurajima.moe avatar

@yon But Classic Mac OS is fun though, that is where I played most of my games during my childhood.

Curious how well Mac OS X runs on those Beige PCI Power Macintoshes since I have G3 accelerators in them. probably not that great compared to a G4 MDD or a G3 B&W due to the slow bus speeds and RAM. The RAM used in these Macs are hard to find. There is only a few sellers, who sell 128 MB to max it out at $50, very steep.

chikorita157,
@chikorita157@sakurajima.moe avatar

@yon It's mostly because I grew up playing games or doing things in Mac OS 7. Never a big fan of Windows.

Sure, native SATA may be overkill as the MDD has a fast ATA, but native SATA is faster. ATA to SATA is not so ultimate after all.

chikorita157,
@chikorita157@sakurajima.moe avatar

@yon Oh the SATA card has a 256 GB SSD. Should probably not cause trouble with Mac OS 7.6.1, hopefully.

But I don’t think I can install BeOS from SATA PCI, although it emulates a SCSI bus. I probably need to use the SCSI2SD to install it on.

chikorita157, (edited )
@chikorita157@sakurajima.moe avatar

@yon The original BeOS only supported old world PCI Power Macintosh, so it won’t work in the MDD. If you want to play around with it, maybe find a Performa/Power Macintosh 6400/6500 or a 7300/7600 as those are still rather cheap way to test it out.

It sees it as a SCSI device

chikorita157,
@chikorita157@sakurajima.moe avatar

@yon Even with a BlueSCSI, the Power Macintosh 8100 boots really quickly, maybe not so much with Mac OS 8.6.

But I can imagine with a PCI SATA card, it will fly, more so than a BlueSCSI, although it will be bandwidth limited, probably around to 80-100 mb/s

On the MDD, I can get 115 mb/s with a SATA card and an SSD.

chikorita157,
@chikorita157@sakurajima.moe avatar

@yon I have been born then Mac OS 7 was about to get released. My parents had IBM XT and the old IBM PS/2, before I got a Performa 630 CD. Funny how it is more capable and easier to use than Windows 3.1.

Tech evolved a lot in the 90s ,and I started using the internet a lot in the late 90s, especially in the 2000s. Wait, parents allow a 10 year old child on the internet unsupervised. Those were the times, which of course developed my interest in computers and technology since I had access to a lot of computers, but the Macintosh is the one I’m probably the most nostalgic for, not so much for PC hardware.

@Ragashingo Count me in for owning a lot of CDs as this was the only way to buy Japanese music for the longest time. I still buy CDs sometimes, but since there is a way to buy lossless/high res Japanese music (requires a Japanese VPN though), it’s easier.

Besides the raising prices on subscriptions themselves, don't have to worry about tracks disappearing because of licensing.

Also, I don't like listening to lossy tracks,

From the looks of it, the cron task to remove the temp files, which accumulates. Usually, these files should get removed automatically. Of course, sometimes the file never get deleted, which accumulates and can fill up the drive and crash the server.

Now, there is a daily cron job that removes the files if they are still there, they will get removed at midnight. This will hopefully prevent the server from going down in the future because of disk space because of temp files not getting removed.

chikorita157,
@chikorita157@sakurajima.moe avatar

@yon The temp files eventually filled the whole drive, but the second time I caught it, it was already occuplying 59 GB in the temp folder.

chikorita157,
@chikorita157@sakurajima.moe avatar

@yon They weren’t log files, they are temporary files, but not sure what they are used for.

I see some people discussing such as Silver Spoon. On the Anime World Order Discord, I saw it mentioned that is no longer available to stream on Crunchyroll as of June 1st - just in time for Pride month.

Apparently a lot of other Ikuhara shows are now unavailable as well: Mawaru Penguindrum used to be available on HiDive, but now only the compilation film is available (the same goes for the Blu-rays); similarly, Yuri Kuma Arashi's streams sank beneath the waves along with Funimation's site. At least Sarazanmai is still streaming on Crunchyroll and available on Blu-ray, but who knows how long that will last? After all, Utena was licensed to Crunchyroll via RightStuf (who are now owned by Crunchyroll)

chikorita157,
@chikorita157@sakurajima.moe avatar

@pcas Funny thing, I saw this video about the various anime titles that were popular in the 90s and 2000s disappearing as well.

It busts the myth that everything can be watched on streaming services, it's not necessarily the case as all streaming services eventually remove the titles. If you want to watch it at any time, besides owning physical media, the only choice is to sail the seven seas, which doesn't really support the original creators at all.

Sasayaku You ni Koi wo Utau Production Problems (Full Text)

While not posted here on the Fediverse, a user on the :deadbird: site has gotten in contact with a user to leak the problems the staff are working with while producing the anime. (Note: Some spelling corrections, source from Patstar_1999, OCR in text form) I may write a follow up editorial post on this over on my main blog at a future date.

Now updated with rebuttals.
