I'm thinking about visiting in with my 19yr old son. We would take a ferry from the Seattle area.

I would love suggestions or warnings for activities, lodging, etc

I don't know who needs this summary of advice I gave to a young woman about her academic career.

#academia is subject to #capitalism like many other institutions.
Members of marginalized groups can apply #infosec practices like social engineering to overtake the power structures.

For more detailed, practical guidance, I recommend the underground classic:

In all the excitement, it would be easy to overlook this announcement relevant to #pythondev s building large/busy projects with #python :

I'm encouraged by the synergy between the #RustLanguage and Python communities, with several collaborations increasing adoption and familiarity of #rustlang .

Ok, I'm calling it a day.

In my ongoing quest for a #cooperative offering high end Internet infrastructure services, I read https://blog.cosocial.ca/about/
about @coop ,
and I wonder if there is something similar in place in the USA?

I'm intrigued by the notion of a member owned #coop because that might provide enterprise customers with greater long term commitment (assuming they apply Deming's principle 4, use one supplier)

As a life long early adopter of open source (TAMU , anyone?) I'm going to try https://www.espruino.com/Bangle.js2#tutorials

(despite the reference to .js, it's not a toy and real programming languages like are available)

#TIL this #ted talk about #coops is a compelling and concise intro to the advantages over corporate #capitalism

The call to action at the end "cooperativism needs better marketing" made me think of @mariyadelano and the work she is doing with B2B #marketing

The image is the cover of an article from the provincial #library in Cรกdiz #Spain. It shows the brand that was burned into the skin of people trafficked by La Companรญa Gaditana de Negros in 1765 to show that the transaction had paid the duties to make it " legitimate".

Is it weird that I feel completely comfortable with #git ?
I noticed that most of the folks #programming I run into are ill at ease when they interact with their repo.

The resources available tend to either

  • explain how (all of) git works.
    Or
  • provide a few stanzas of incantations to accompany the ritual sacrifice.

I wonder if there's an audience for a "git therapist"?

"Do you think your struggles with merge conflicts may be rooted in early experience with svn ?...."

It's probably well known in , but it was new to me.

I looked through their service descriptions and they seem to have the right stuff for cloud and apps.

Across the street lived her daughter and Ashkenazi American husband, both professors.

Lately I have been watching a category of videos where young people react to seeing #rock classics for the first time.
Jimi Hendrix 67 Monterey "Hey Joe" is a great one for eliciting life changing astonishment.
