When it comes to sports, Mastodon is very seasonal.

World Cup, Superbowl, World Series, Opening Day, March Madness, NBA Finals and such will get a lot of engagement and then flatlines for a while.

It's almost as if we are just a bunch of cicadas.

@beisbolcards Six Nations as well - although I don't think I've seen a single toot about any other rugby competition ever.

Royals are losing to the Guardians 8-5 in the top 8th.

Meanwhile, they are tied in the bot 8th 3-3 with the White Sox.

"IT'S A HOME RUN FOR ADLEY RUTSCHMAN"

I like Adley but that ad much louder than whatever game I'm listening is really annoying.

Had not read Anthony Rendon comments.

I absolutely agree that there are things far more important than baseball, but if he sees it as just a job, he should've been fired a while ago.

The owners should collude and send all those players into one team just so everyone else can enjoy that mess.

Oh, and free Mike Trout! He doesn't deserve that.

@beisbolcards Dude's stats back up how much he seems to be checked out. I wouldn't want him on my team

Is Fantasy Baseball still a thing? Anyone up?

Not really looking to the Commish job, I just want to set my players for failure every week or so.

rootcompute,
@rootcompute@mastodon.social avatar

@beisbolcards A fediverse league would be cool. My only fantasy sports experience was football for a couple years around 2009/2010 lol. I like to do Out of the Park Baseball though

This was quick. Stairs is that popular, huh?

Considered Soto (34) and Henry Rod (36) for the Expos, phew

MediaLawProf,

@beisbolcards I love that Braves row!

A's took me a while. Was Canseco actually an MVP? Foxx? Reggie?

John Denny had been on my waiting list.

Looked a list of 1983 players and Alfredo Griffin rung a bell, so I checked his stars once I discarded him. When I saw he started his career for the Indians immediately thought of Eck for the final piece.

Players who would've fit on any team square: Manny Trillo, Doug Jones, Horacio Piña and Tim Worrell.

MediaLawProf,

@beisbolcards I got to use 2 more of my birthday guys (too many backup catchers) plus a couple of oddball Rangers. Surprised so many went with Palmeiro for Cubs, but glad I didn’t gamble on Hornsby there (only 2.930 hits).

This is why I can't have nice things. Thought either the late Darryl Kile or Mike Hampton would have 200K, but they were way short. Borrowed Al Oliver since someone always mentions him, and had been looking to pencil in VanderWal for a while.

@MediaLawProf @beisbolcards Dang that’s a nice grid. Those Reds are nice deep pulls, but 40+ years later those 1982 Reds still cause me trauma.

Open trivia question

Who is the player with the longest career that will never be an answer in the

Someone who played his whole career with one team, won no awards and didnt have benchmark stats.

My pick for now is Randy Bush, who played for the Twins from 1982-1993. There's gotta be someone else.

MediaLawProf,

@ArthurCopeland4 @beisbolcards Ron Karkovice had 12 years with the White Sox

MediaLawProf,

@beisbolcards thought of another - Jim Gantner. 17 years (!) with the Brewers, no all star games or major achievements.

No today, so I have a question.

In the early/mid 80's saw a medieval adventure film on TV that I'd like to identify.

In the scene I remember there were winged gargoyle-like creatures standing eerily idly on a hill in the forest. A kid running through crashed into one that had its wings open, and then closed them to eat him.

If it rings a bell, I'd like to find out which movie that was.

The #ImmaculateGrid is now part of Sports-Reference.

"I tell you, these corporations are going to gobble up everything"

But, not knowing the details, I'm not against it. I do love #baseball -reference.

Daniel, seen here almost a year ago, is currently in the cat hospital with respiratory issues - probable pneumonia or heart issues.

His hooman had to leave and a guy took him in. Was asked how old he is but I met him as an adult a couple of years ago.

He's very friendly, even when he fought other cats and meows a lot. He was recently neutered and am keeping tabs on him to make sure he's not a stray again.

No offense to the kitten I'm fostering but I'd gladly trade for him.
