@metin @mbt3d Great to hear that you find some positive aspects in German culture and literature. Maybe we could swap places? 😅 I learned Dutch a few years ago and just love the Netherlands: the relaxed and friendly attitude of its inhabitants, the well-designed cycling paths, the large varieties of drop in the supermarket shelves, its lovely islands (been on Ameland countless times since my youth) and so much more. Vrolijk Pasen en een fijn Zondag gewenst. 😊

@metin Oh yes, I can absolutely relate. I actually hate #people and their loudness most of the time. 😄

And yes, it was taken with my #iPhone and the #Hipstamatic app. Some time in the past, I‘d buy every new HipstaPack they published but after a while it got too messy in my app so I stopped. Still quite a large collection though. 😅

Affinity has been bought by Canva, to compete with Adobe.

It was of course a matter of time before Affinity would outgrow its status of sympathetic small-scale Adobe alternative, and be sold for large proceeds.

Canva is into AI. Hopefully Affinity will get some useful AI-powered image processing tools, like upscalers and denoisers, but Canva will probably add generative shit and introduce subscriptions sooner or later.

@metin Dammit. I just read about the acquisition. I have the exact same concerns regarding the #Affinity suite - sooner or later it will become subscription-based software.

I am currently using Affinity Photo in v2 but might switch to #PixelmatorPro if they install a subscription model. If you are into #macOS, probably give it a go. Will also take a look at PhotoScape X, thanks for the recommendation. 👍🏼

@metin Dunno if this is good news, apparently Affinity will stay separate.

„In an interview with the Sydney Morning Herald, Canva co-founder Cameron Adams said that Affinity applications will remain separate from Canva’s platform, but that some small integrations should be expected over time. ‚Our product teams have already started chatting and we have some immediate plans for lightweight integration, but we think the products themselves will always be separate’, said Adams.“

Chances are high you know Samuel Barber's beautiful classical piece Adagio for Strings. It has been used in several films, including Platoon.

But not as many people know that there's also a choral variation, called Agnus Dei. Personally, I think that's even more beautiful. Listening to it always gives me goosebumps. Turn up the volume, close your eyes and enjoy...

I was just about to share Allegri‘s „Miserere mei, Deus“ when Mark already did that job. I used an 11-minute-version of that choral for a theatre play I wrote several years ago and it still brings back vibrant memories.

Personally, I also love John Tavener‘s „Funeral Ikos“.
