I live in the Dystopian Disunited Kingdom. I'm here to be informed of corruption, nebulous networks and shady government plans.

Really, I'm just a high-functioning potato, so cut me some slack 😏

FYI, someone just asked me, "Could you please put a CW on those US politics posts?"

I said no sorry,, just mute me.

I don't understand CWing political posts. And that doesn't mean you need to @ me explaining why. I know THEIR reasons, I just disagree with them and won't do it.

I respect CWs for other things, but not politics. Politics is news and people need to be aware of what's happening. It's not gory or violent, it's politics.

Kthxbye.

I for one am glad she's back...because that quote below is my life for the last five years; the world in microcosm:

"You admit you're scared. You admit you don't know what to do. You stop. You listen. You look for answers. You come up with a plan. You abandon your previous assumptions about reality. You adjust to the new reality in front of you."

The mother hen on the allotment field now has only three babies. I'm sure there were around 9 or 10 a couple of weeks ago.
Stigg lets the birds roam free, he let the cockerel breed, he doesn't care if the birds or chicks live or die, he only got them to piss the council off. A dog killed a hen a few days ago, he laughed. He feeds them stale white bread and they have no shelter.
The council have told him to get rid of them, especially the cockerel but he won't.

I love scavenging the back alleys. I found this! Its a mini trash can, based on the sort of thing we actually put rubbish in when I was young. It had mould inside, so I'm assuming it may have been meant to be for kitchen scraps outside. One of the handles was broken so that was fixed. No idea what to use it for, but its cool.

MostlyTato,

@fkamiah17
All good ideas., but I already do all those things 😀 I'm thinking I may actually use it to store kitchen scraps. Or as a small yard waste bin!

LOL Mia, you should see my yard. I just spent 20 minutes trying to find space for a small pot.😂 This spring has been mostly removing stuff from the yard after four years of cramming it all in.

An overhead shot of the downslope allotment from a raised perspective. I stood on the neighbours fence! Well, I've been digging over his area for him and getting access via the fence, so I took the opportunity.

Nothing else matters.

Almost 80% of IPCC climate scientists believe we're heading for 2.5ºC of warming this century; 50% say 3ºC.

These are objectively disastrous numbers.

Over 70% say that lack of political will is to blame; 60% also blame vested corporate interests.

I'd add the demagogues, populists, & their cronies, weaponising denialism for their own short-term selfish gains.

History will judge our generation very harshly.

I think maybe within this century, and almost certainly within the next, there will be no historians left to judge anything.

The problem for searching for a search engine that doesn't use AI is that you are using an AI search engine to search for it.
I'm not sure, but I think this may act as a metaphor for far too much. IDK, maybe I should do a web search on that.

What if someone took those flying cars from Blade Runner and turned it into a open world sandbox game?

That is Crime Cities. But saying this is similar to Blade Runner doesn’t even scratch the surface.

In terms of gameplay, Crime Cities is like a cross between Descent and Grand Theft Auto. You’re in a flying car, cruising a crime-infested city, looking for random missions to earn money.

These missions vary considerably. One one mission, you make a delivery. On another, you’re taxing someone to a strip club. Yet on another mission, you act as a bounty hunter and must gun some criminals down.

The story is pretty fantastic too. You’re on a literal prison planet, trying to infiltrate a criminal organization, trying to stop a potential terrorists. Or at least, that’s what your handlers say. It all gets very murky quickly.

What especially makes this stand out, though, is the aesthetic. Oh yes, you have the art deco stylings of Blade Runner. But because this game came out in 2000, there’s lots of Y2K stuff going on too. One of the NPCs is actually called CyberDog (like the Apple web browser), and he’s wearing an ocular device similar to the R-Zone.

It just amazes me too that, back in 2000, email was seen as the height of futurism. They really thought that, in terms of communication, things wouldn’t get better than receiving electronic text. And perhaps they had a point because email has not been replaced as the primary communications platform for 50 years, so maybe we will be using it in the faraway future. I’m nevertheless impressed.

Techland made this game. They’re famous for the Dying Light and Dead Island series. But they also made one of my favourite Western FPS games of all time, Call of Juarez: Gunslinger. That company is one of the reasons I watch game development in Poland so much.

If you plan on getting this game, I have some advice. First of all, restart your computer after installing – otherwise the menus will have excruciating lag. Also, do not run this game with a 16:9 or 16:10 ratio because your HUD will be cut off. Be sure to keep this at 4:3.

Once you get past those hiccups, this is quite fun! Nothing is quite like cruising around a cyberpunk landscape in your flying car. That, right there, makes it worth it.

Currently, GOG.com has this available for a -79% off its regular price of C$4.65. It’s selling for C$0.99. If you’re looking for a novel experience, this is a killer deal.

You can just see it growing out of the toadflax. How it survives every year growing in practically nothing is amazing, it must have sunk rootlets down into the wall.
