Me: frustrated with Siri after it refuses to do what I ask it to twice. Fine! I'll go talk to Google! AT least he likes me! (I have my Google Assistant voice currently set to a male one).
*walks across the room, asks the google device for the same thing).
Device: spits out an answer.
Me: Now that's how we make our human happy. See? It doesn't take much, now, does it?
@fireborn Or when you fix something that's been pissing you off for half a squillion years? Or the thing just magically fixes itself? Heh. I do this shit all the time. lol. I'll be cursing something sideways, but sounding entirely too polite while doing it.
@Meepercat@evilcookies98 I have never figured out how to get into that, like I would test shit for them if they give me free stuff, but not a clue where to sign up.
Anyone ever heard of ear migraines? If yes, enlighten me. If no, tell me to hit google like it owes me weed, and I won't be offended. Because I'ma do the latter anyway, but I just thought I'd throw the squillion dollar question out here anyway and see if I got a hit.
I love love love the fact that my regional healthcare facility uses MyChart. Because even if my mom doesn't go there and can't access it, I can, and I can put the reminders in my iThing or Android calendars, and/or send her the invites, or just remind her when/if the deskperson tells her the wrong time when they enter the appointment. No, actually they put it in for $ThisTime, not $thatOne. My local uses something else that's a little less niftilicious and I have to rely on text messages to do the job for me.
@munchkinbear@Meepercat That's one thing I really miss up here in Canada. In 2024, we still have no option for viewing our own medical charts online. I really appreciated the ability to view test results, doctor comments, and other things from home.
@technolass@munchkinbear@Meepercat life labs has it but I think that system is not accessible cause AODA and similar can't be enforced. they just want to talk nice!
Yeah this Windows install is drunk and needs to just go home. I still can't add bluetooth devices without someone else having to intervene because that setting won't stay put. Christ's sakes. Think I'll just nuke it and redo it the Meepercat PickyTastic way. Because at least THAT way I know the shit's gonna work.
@simon@FluidEscence@Meepercat@sclower The most foolproof way of a clean install ir of course to format the disk, there's no telling what it might read from windows.old in terms of OEM shit
I should not be stuck on the windows privacy settings screen for half an hour and unable to move forward, and I haven't even installed a real screen reader yet... sigh...
Oh I can see tonight's gonna be fun. My neighbors, in addition to blaring their bassy music through my walls, have taken to randomly setting off fireworks. Aren't they just so cute and adorable?
See, I'm a lot more excited about google than I am about Apple right now. When Siri can't even do math for me anymore, and I need it to, guys, because I was having a mild, treat it at home, medical emergency last night and trying to take readings and take averages, and it couldn't, do that. Ya know what I had to do? I had to grab the google monster and make it do the math for me because my apple devices couldn't fucking handle it anymore. This shit isn't coolfor those of us who can't see and rely on our equipment to do the shit we can't, kids.
Does anyone in the virtual room have both of the following: A 4th generation Echo Dot, and a google Assistant capable device such as a Nest Hub or Nest Audio? If so, could you do a girl a favor and try something for me right quick?
@simon Essentially I'm shooting for an accessible way to monitor the heat/humidity in this room without having to constantly play Who's Line is it Anyway" with Siri. But Screw having to pay Amazon for the use of their voice assistant.
@Meepercat it can still be done. oh wait, you can't purchase gift cards with your gift card balance. oh well, was worth a try. I have like $250 in mine but I can always find something to buy. sweets, computer toys, toys for my creature and lots of other things.
