Keep in mind that our standard of living while at its lowest point in 40 years is still among the top two or three in the world. The propagandist never mention that while they’re pushing their grievance politics.

And to be very clear, electing a Conservative government that will cut taxes on the rich and cut services to everyone else to pay for it will crash or standard of living. Never trust s politician who says, “Elect me because I’m not the other guy and I’ll fix everything” but never tells you how. The one thing you can be absolutely sure of is the fact that he’s not going to fix everything.

15th? Out of 204? Yes pretty good.

This website says no. 3.

Perhaps we look better by comparison to their own country.

Conservatives always do the same thing. They cut taxes giving billions of dollars to the rich and cut services for everyone else. (Just a note, here…if you don’t use a million dollar yacht as a runabout for your billion dollar yacht you are the poor that they are referring to when they say, “We don’t want our tax dollars going to support the poor.” They’re taking about you, not for you.) They cut revenue and try to cut spending to make it up but always fail, running up the deficit and the debt, neglecting the military, government, and infrastructure leaving not only a fiscal debt but also an operational/maintenance debt until they are voted out of office. Then the next Liberal government has to pay that debt by spending and the Conservatives complain that they are spending money like drunken sailors, run on, “We’re not them and we’re going to fix everything” without ever having a plan for HOW they’re going to fix everything let alone the intention to fix everything, win, and start the cycle over again.

It’s ok. The Food government is going to take away their license for life. That will stop them.

Anti-Canadian propaganda.

It was 7 minutes of pissing and moaning and ignored the reality that things have gotten worse everywhere. A friend from Florida complained in a chat last night that her weekly groceries have gone from USD$100 to USD$180. Despite the problems Canada is still one of the top five best places in the world to live and having travelled to many places around the world I can tell you that I would never consider living anywhere else.

Remember the United People of Canada who tried to buy the church in Ottawa them stiffed the seller and refused to leave?

They’re back!

Where is the Justice Center for Consttutional Freedom? Why aren’t they defending these protesters? Oh, right…they’re actually just a right wing troll farm that supports white supremacists, white nationalists, racists, Diagaloons, and other assholes. They don’t take on real cases of Consttutional issues.

Just how far is Pierre Poilievre willing to take the notwithstanding clause? (www.cbc.ca)

In January, the Federal Court found that the Trudeau government’s use of the Emergencies Act to respond to the protests of the self-styled freedom convoy in 2022 was not properly justified — a decision the federal government is now appealing....

The framers of the Constitution assumes that everyone would act in good faith in using the Notwithstanding Clause. They didn’t consider the possibility of the rise of christofascists willing to use it to take away our hard earned rights and consolidate power.

They should talk to YouTube to find out how successful their months long efforts to block at blockers have been. This is an effort by pearl clutchers to do the impossible in a domain that they know absolutely nothing about.

MapleEngineer,
@MapleEngineer@lemmy.ca avatar

Is it to much to ask that the Conservatives actually tell us what their plans are, in detail, to solve the problems that they’re moaning about instead of doing nothing but chant, “TrUdEaU bAd!” ad nauseum?

MapleEngineer,

It’s not over until the Supreme Court sings.

The article clearly states that the reports must be supported by documents from the TLB. Those records are public.

MapleEngineer,
@MapleEngineer@lemmy.ca avatar

They are hearing and judgement reports from the board so there is that.

MapleEngineer,
@MapleEngineer@lemmy.ca avatar

So they suspended the hunting licenses that they didn’t have?

MapleEngineer,
@MapleEngineer@lemmy.ca avatar

That’s like giving someone who is driving without a license a license suspension. Poeple who hunt without a license don’t care about being banned from hunting legally. They were already hunting illegally.

Polievre doesn’t know what’s going on because he doesn’t have a security clearance. He doesn’t have a security clearance because if he did he couldn’t whine about, “our right to know” and couldn’t tell people what he knew if he did. It’s all transparent political theater that the maple MAGA crowd eat right up.

The rest of the G7 are watching as is the rest of the civilized world. Assassinating a citizen of a country on that country’s sovereign territory is a big fucking deal diplomatically. The G7 will want to stamp that shit right the fuck out before Modi starts trying that shit in their countries.

This is a major embarrassment for Modi and Indian because it was so club fistedly amateurish.

Bill of Rights?

MapleEngineer,
@MapleEngineer@lemmy.ca avatar

Huh. That’s an old one. Thanks.

MapleEngineer,

Those throwing around the word are almost certainly projecting. Every accusation is an admission.

<YAWN!>

MapleEngineer,
@MapleEngineer@lemmy.ca avatar

I actually didn’t know about the Canadian Bill of Rights. I’ve always focused on the Constitution and Charter since they are current and applicable nationally. I guess that since it was superseded I just didn’t know about it.

MapleEngineer,
@MapleEngineer@lemmy.ca avatar

<YAWN!> means you’re boring. Your childish insults are boring. Your banal political commentary is boring. Your sanctimonious, “That’s why I couldn’t be bothered to reply” while looking down your nose is boring.
