Leate_Wonceslace,

I can’t fathom why anyone hates dandelions. The entire plant is edible and they’re a cute little flower.

Leate_Wonceslace, (edited )

I’m opposed to the idea that being charged with a crime should disqualify someone from office. Simply put, it incentivises putting people in jail for political reasons.

No, Trump should be disqualified for treason and insurrection. Of course, that’s not happening either.

Leate_Wonceslace,

I thought this place was for jokes. Why is there an infographic?

Leate_Wonceslace, (edited )

40-32/2 _ 4!

40-16 _ 2×3×4

30-6 _ 2×12

24 = 24

Checks out.

Some folk are having difficulty figuring out that there aren’t any good guys here. We have (in no particular order):

Hamas, who are killing and raping innocent civilians, maintaining military rule, and generally being some of the most prominent examples of why theocracy is bad.

Israel, who’s doing a genocide and helped ensure Hamas was in power because Hamas is fucking evil and thus easy to hate.

The US who is supplying the former, and thus making things easier for them. Simultaneously, Biden appears to be trying to get a bunch of countries to form a peacekeeping force, but frankly I’m not giving him points for that. (Ofc, this does not mean you shouldn’t vote for him. Trump is worse.)

A large ammount of civilians who are being pushed by the first two into making each other victims and being brainwashed into thinking that one or the other is good.

The closest we have to a good guy in this scenario is fucking Egypt who’s participating in a scheme to maintain a peacekeeping force. And as far as I remember not doing anything shady that’s relevant. Reminder that this is the country that periodically comes out with a magical AIDS-curing laser.

What’s the chances this isn’t a tankie?

Leate_Wonceslace,

Step 1: hit snooze

Step 2: use the extra time to build dual power and/or electoral reform.

Note: The time to build an alternative to the DNC for 2024 was no less than 4 years ago. The time to start building the coalition for 2028 starts no later than December 2024.

Note: the time to build dual power is any day you can afford the time, acumen, and experiense.

Step 3: hit snooze again.

Voting doesn’t change anything. Not voting kills us.

We vote to buy time. We use that time to perform direct action.

These 2 things are not mutually exclusive.

Leate_Wonceslace,

“The GOP is actively preventing Biden from passing legislation. That makes them bad!”

“Biden isn’t able to pass any good legislation. That makes him equally as bad!”

Leate_Wonceslace,

That’s Biden. The best anti-genocide voting strategy is Biden.

Leate_Wonceslace,

Look, if Russia wants to keep giving Ukrainians weapons, I think we should support them in this endeavor.

Leate_Wonceslace,

Arguing against voting for Biden is a pro-genocide tactic because it increases the probability of more genocide. Anti-voting activism is an inviable strategy.

Leate_Wonceslace,

Incase anyone is wondering, that’s U1F308.

Leate_Wonceslace,

The answer for any crusade is “an embarrassing yet hilarious disaster or a heartbreaking tragedy, depending on which side you’re on.” which side each applies to varies by crusade.

Leate_Wonceslace,

Donald Trump is Genocide at home and abroad.

Joe Biden is “only” Genocide abroad, and probably less of it.

Therefore, a vote for Joe Biden is a Vote against genocide.

No, it doesn’t matter that he’s an active participant in the apparatus that’s creating the genocide, because if he’s in office there’s less genocide. Which is the important part, and pretending otherwise is sophistry. If you abstain from voting, you are increasing the likelihood of more genocide and if you discourage others from voting, you are an active participant in the overall social apparatus that is probabilistically increasing the amount of genocide.

The utility calculation is dead simple: more votes for Biden in key states makes more genocide less likely, and discouraging people from voting for Biden makes more genocide more likely. Therefore, discouraging people from voting for Biden is a pro-genocide strategy and voting for Biden in battleground states is an anti-genocide strategy. You should vote for Biden unless you live in a solid blue state, and even then it’s not a bad idea.

TLDR: if you encourage people to not vote for Biden, that’s supporting genocide. Accelerationism never works for us.

Leate_Wonceslace, (edited )

Less genocide is better than more genocide.

Arguing against less genocide is an activity that increases the ammount of genocide.

This is not a complicated choice and pretending otherwise makes the situation worse.

Edit: I’m reposting my full argument, because why not?

People need to understand that it’s possible to vote against genocide.

Donald Trump is Genocide at home and abroad.

Joe Biden is “only” Genocide abroad, and probably less of it.

Therefore, a vote for Joe Biden is a Vote against genocide.

Leate_Wonceslace,

This comment is brought to you by the Hexbear outreach program.

196 Stands with Palestine, but those of you in the US should still vote in the general election.

I’ve been seeing a lot of anti-voting sentiment going around. Can’t believe I have to say this, but you need to vote. Not only is there more to the election than just the president. (State policy, Senate, house), but not voting is not an act of protest. C’mon guys

Leate_Wonceslace,

This is such a garbage fucking take. A vote for Biden is a vote to delay fascism for 4 years, which we can use to fight it more effectively. You vote to buy time, and you use that time to fight. There’s not much point in voting if we don’t fight, but if you don’t vote fighting will get a lot harder and things will get worse. Go read a book and touch some grass.

Leate_Wonceslace,

The reason cars became so popular in rural areas is that they’re the thing that allows people who live there to be connected with their neighbors. They divide densely populated areas and connect low population areas. The relationship cars have to people’s lives is incredibly complex and putting forth solutions like this will alienate people from joining the movement. Advocating for walkable cities makes sense because rural communities aren’t going to be atomized by regulations like that, and thus it becomes easier to implement.

Veganism isn’t better for the environment than significantly reducing the total amount of consumed meat. Animals play an important, difficult-to-replace role in making agriculture sustainable. Animals can be herded on land that’s difficult to farm on, animals can consume parts of farmed plants that humans cannot, and animals produce products that humans cannot replicate without significantly more work.

Edit: I see a bunch of vegans who aren’t really engaging with the argument. To be clear, anyone who makes statements about how things are right now to try to disprove this is probably arguing in bad faith. I’m not responding to comments anymore because, while it’s entirely possible that I’m wrong, y’all aren’t making any good points.

Furthermore, I’m not anti-vegan, but now I’m tempted to be. So many people I’ve engaged with have displayed all of the worst vegan stereotypes I’ve heard about. I’ve always assumed it was chuds making shit up, but no I just hadn’t met any of the terminally online creeps in the vegan community yet OMFG.

Leate_Wonceslace,

Wow, what a great argument to never host anything in China, ever.

Leate_Wonceslace,

The last time I got a text that was obviously from a scammer I beat them to the punch with “I have a big bitcoin mining project but I need seed money. Are you willing to invest?”

Leate_Wonceslace,

All the sanatized language makes me wonder if there’s a rule against saying someone is “absolutely out of their mind” in a headline.
