I'm with @webology on this one. GitHub has repeatedly refused to donate to the DSF/DjangoCon because "GitHub don't use Django", but they use mention Django in so much marketing material …

This is probably because Copilot does an excellent job generating Django code ... but that's only because Django's documentation culture and open community forums provide high-quality training material.

How about throwing us a couple of bucks to say "thanks for training our AI”?

@jacob that's why I moved away from github donations for making financial contributions to FOSS projects. There are other options like @opencollective which of course also take a cut for their overhead, but at least it's a non profit taking that cut.

@tomster @opencollective @jacob oh, thanks for pointing it out. You hav e to dig deep on their homepage to find that information. Luckily it just affects one of the fiscal hosts (the Open Collective Foundation in the US), and not any of the others. At #osmocom we're using Open Collective Europe.

@mnt an EWSD telephone exchange contains hundreds of boards in dozens of component carries and >= 3 racks full of component carriers. Not every board needs to contain a CPU, though many do.

Hat jemand eine Idee, was man macht, wenn ein Haus einen bislang nicht genutzten BK-Anschluss im Keller liegen hat, aber (ex KDG) behauptet, es gibt an der Anschrift keinen? Ich hab Hausübergabepunkt mit eigenen Augen gesehen. Er ist da. Kennt jemand einen technischen Ansprechpartner auf Augenhoehe?

@gafu Danke fuer die Antwort. Das mit dem Trassenplan dachte ich mir auch schon, sowas habe ich mir fuer mein Wohneigentum damals auch interessehalber geholt. Hier gehts jetzt aber um eine Gewerbeimmobilie zur Miete, da ist mir nicht ganz klar ob ich als Mieter ueberhaupt ein Recht habe, eine Auskunft einzuholen. Ich mache mich mal genauer schlau.

@fehrnetzt @dl1eam Auf dem HUeP steht noch was von Post oder Telekom drauf, d.h. alter Bestand der sicher mal an KDG und damit jetzt VF ging. Pyur/Telecolumbus kennen die Adresse auch nicht, aber die haben doch soweiso eher neu gebaut, und keinen alten Post/DTAG-Bestand, oder?

@z3ntu @darkdragon Modern basebands have multiple physical UARTS for talking to SIM or eUICC. No change from a dual sim phone. I'd expect in qmi you simply have some kind of channel number to select. In Android each gets exposed separately

@darkdragon @z3ntu yes, of course. The downloaded and enabled eSIM profile on the eUICC is indistinguishable from a classic USIM to a phone / modem.

@darkdragon @z3ntu note that SGP.02 describes the M2M eSIM, which is completely different thant the consumer eSIM that people know from smartphones. It's also incompatible. M2M has no QR codes and you cannot install a consumer eSIM profile to a M2M eUICC. The relevant specs for consumer are GSMA SGP.21 and SGP.22 (v2.x for current deployments)

4G: unverschlüsselte IMSI
5G: verschlüsselte SUPI (= SUCI), (temporäre) GUTI...Swisscom&Co müssen entschlüsseln.

Viel Kauderwelsch. Trotzdem spannend.

I just received an invoice from ITU
(International Telecommunications Union). Their letterhead states a TELETEX number (in 2024!). I love it. #retronetworking - now I seriously wonder how I might be able to get connected to a public network that can reach it.

@AngelaScholder note that Telex is a rather common #retronetworking technology and you will find many enthusiasts around it, for example in the i-Telex network. However, Teletex is super obscure. I'm one of the few collectors with an actual device, and I know of no efforts to create ant network simulation beyond my humble research and unpublished first steps https://media.ccc.de/v/retronetcall-20230607-laforge-teletex

@jrsikken it sounds like you want to add some kind of supply power switch with inrush current limiting. Those will just limit during start-up and have just a few milliohms later on
