Unpopular opinion: It's 2024 and we still can't figure out a better way for blind people to know what's in front of them. I mean seriously. Surely someone out there can think of some better solution that's not dragging around a huge ass stick that takes up one of your hands anywhere you go. Seems at least somewhat inefficient for the time we're in, but that could just be me wishing I didn't have to drag a huge thing and lose the use of one of my hands just to uh, you know, do something any old sighted person can do freely with no issues. Hurray, blindy issues.

Please choose a mobile interface and leave it. No seriously. Leave the mobile interface alone. Choose a layout and stick with it. You should not be changing your interface four times over the course of 6 months. Yes. I have had my interface change four times as of today and I'm getting extremely tired of it. Please stop it and stop it right now before I send the Kaliah roarmonster to forcefully teach you a lesson in interface development. Hint: It does not involve developing new flashy interfaces every 3 MS.

    I fucking hate discord's mobile interface. Everything is constantly broken and nothing does what I want anymore. This thing is a pile of explosive shit. That's all I will say, although I could create a 20 page essay on how fucked this stupid interface is

    @menelion Not me, their desktop interface is fine. Sure, I have a couple of issues with it, but the mobile one is where I really, really have big problems. The desktop one makes sense to me with the hotkeys and what not, the mobile one is just total garbage

    @cordova5029 I use it almost constantly, because that’s where all my people are. Everyone I talk to regularly uses discord, and I haven’t bothered to try to get my most important people to move somewhere else. Mostly because I don’t know where I’d even move to. I just have so much stuff on Discord that it’s not very possible for me to move right now. Doesn’t stop me from hating their bullshit interface, though. Desktop is fine, mobile is really not fine

    @fireborn They would need to implement those everywhere to make me even consider liking it. Right now it has so many bugs, random things are inaccessible, when you press some things they don’t go where you expect, I’ve had multiple times where I’ve clicked on channels or back buttons and been thrown into either the notifications tab or the settings screen, I hate the separation of messages from servers, and just so many other things. I could go on and on about it, but they’d have to do some serious work to make me even consider enjoying it.

    @cordova5029 I had the same stupid issue with telegram. A significant amount of my people were on there a few years ago, then they broke the hell out of the interface and I had to move. Dumb companies and they’re flashy new interfaces that don’t honor accessibility.

    So I set my alarm for 4:30 this morning. Guess what my body did? It woke up at 4:28. It always seems to do this whenever I have an alarm, it will wake up like 2 minutes before that. I totally feel like it knows.

    Reminder, behind every post on the Internet is a person. A person somewhere in the world, with feelings and a life that is far more complex than anything they put online. So the next time you say something shitty to someone online, or start drama over some post, or are hateful to someone, you are actively hurting a person somewhere in the world. Some person outside the internet just like yourself. Be kind, people. Even on the internet. Online life is just as real as offline life (I refuse to use the term "real life"). Keep all of this in mind.

    Hey fediverse. For the next week or so, if you write the date as month day year, for example 4-22-24, the dates are the same forward and backward, if you don't include the separation between the parts of the date. Yay! This pointed out to me by a family member, who apparently understands what my brain likes.

    A reminder to everyone out there. It’s OK to distance from people, things, or situations that make you unhappy. There is nothing wrong with removing negativity from your life. There is nothing wrong with cutting out negative things in order to make yourself feel happier, safer, or just generally more comfortable. If you want that, then create that space for yourself. There’s no shame in it. Create whatever space makes you the happiest. You matter. Your emotions matter. Your mental health matters. Self-care matters. Getting rid of that negativity is taking care of yourself. If you need or want to cut things out to improve any of those things, or even just to create a healthier environment for yourself, do it. You and your well being are important.
