@timrichards@timrichards@timrichards whether the mermaid statue or the clamshell playhouse, calling them ,”must see,” or , “I’ll take a pass “is an individual choice. IMO, seeing something new is good, no matter what the reason for visiting. My significant other tricked me into a trip to Europe because I told her I wanted to see the Alexanderplatz ( or Fernsehturm?). Reason- because it was referenced in a Robert Ludlum novel. Did I see many more significant sights, of course.
Interesting thoughts; I suspect you do lose something by not having to work out a route in a more analogue way. Personally I find map-reading skills are still handy when using Google Maps, as it can be unreliable.
@timrichards Google Maps is great for A-B in a new area but a map and ‘bumping around’ a place does indeed build the mental map and the confidence to get around.
@mikemathia After reading, I checked the date, thinking it would be something like 1951. How nice to see that people like that could still be in this world.
@timrichards Us northerners are so envious, enjoy your spring as we, our autumn, knowing winter is around the corner. BTW how was cold/flu/covid over ur ‘winter’ season?
I keep hearing that “#AI will solve the #climate crisis.”
We don’t need new algorithms & generative AI for that.
We already know exactly what we need to do to address* climate change.
Our future will be determined by whether or not we choose to act. I’m hopeful we will.
*Note: “Address” as in achieve better outcomes. Not “solve.” Climate change is here. We cannot avoid it, but we can achieve a more sustainable & equitable Earth.
@atomicpoet More software should prompt users after one or two months to review settings and/or explore the feature list. A little ‘AI’ could present a list of “if you do this…, you might want to try…”
