#WinRAR#security issue more wide-reaching than thought https://www.ghacks.net/2023/08/24/winrar-security-issue-more-wide-reaching-than-thought/ The unrar.dll and unrar64.dll files, which are widely used by 3rd-party software, may or may not also be affected. I found extremely old versions of unrar.dll in settings or system folders from Sumatra, Balabolka, and Free Commander. It's also used in book editor Calibre, but Igor says 7-zip is not affected. #CVE-2023-40477
@evacide Luckily, I grew up when HS computer class still taught how computers actually work. I always assume that my devices are being targeted - not so much by a stalker but because of my politics - and I act accordingly.
I always think it’s hilarious when people are like ‘stock up on your meds’ or ‘make sure you always have a three-week supply’ my brother in Christ what fucking insurance are you on and can I get it because mine only authorizes refills PRECISELY every 30 days.
@fractured_void I changed pharmacies because #Walgreens strictly enforced a 30-day limit even though my actual health plan has a 28-day refill policy. I live in an area prone to seasonal flooding and have medications I MUST take every day.
We can leave the Solar System, but arriving anywhere is not happening soon (long, fascinating article) https://arstechnica.com/science/2023/07/get-comfortable-in-the-solar-system-well-be-here-for-a-while/ "On August 25th, 2012, humanity became an interstellar species. There was no fanfare or galactic welcome party as a humble robotic probe, the Voyager 1 spacecraft, crossed an invisible threshold. It slipped between the region dominated by the physics of the Sun and into the thin milieu of plasma between the stars." #space#science#interstellar#solarsystem
