[Serious] Why do so many people seem to hate veganism?

Seen a lot of posts on Lemmy with vegan-adjacent sentiments but the comments are typically very critical of vegan ideas, even when they don’t come from vegans themselves. Why is this topic in particular so polarising on the internet? Especially since unlike politics for example, it seems like people don’t really get upset by...

People don’t like to be made to feel uncomfortable (via preaching) about something they enjoy.

Hate is a strong word, but as a meatatarian, passionate vegans don’t make me feel uncomfortable “with knowledge,”but some can be incredibly annoying with the way they go about voicing their opinions. It’s not because of the “truth hurts” or “truth is uncomfortable” angle that you’re smugly going for, but because some are like the Karens and SJW’s of the diet world.

And before I’m accused of generalizing vegans, note I said SOME. I also feel the same way about anyone else who is overly-passionate to the point of “my way or the highway.” Like some who are on keto. Yikes.

No, people are upset about the lyrics being removed. And why pay 5 or more bucks a month for lyrics when you can have a page on your favorite browser displaying the lyrics for free?

Is nobody going to ask how Anon getting beat up in the parking lot is relevant to the story? There’s no indication that Anon’s classmates followed them out to the parking lot. The incident feels more random.

Am I overthinking this instead of drifting off to sleep? Most likely.

“Karen” has long since transcended past race and gender. I don’t care what you look like, it’s the attitude and the way you treat people that makes one a Karen.

You don’t have to be a white woman to have main character syndrome and act entitled to everything, treating people like dirt if you don’t get your way and climbing up the customer service ladder until you do, trying to get the people on the lower rungs fired because they told you no.
Or call the cops on someone in a park because you thought they were too loud with their skateboard. Or drop to the ground and scream “a [color] person is attacking me!” when you don’t like them walking their dog down the trail. Etc.

Welcome to the start of my micro series, where I share my thoughts about my favorite team on Pokémon Sleep.

Again, I must ask: Why is The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad an anthology? It makes absolutely no sense. What is the theme connecting the two?

Had the theme been “Disney Classic Storytime,” I guess that would’ve been fine? Sort of? But hell, after Toad’s story, we all of a sudden change to a narrator with a transatlantic accent. What?

So instead it feels like the theme is “On one side of the pond, an anthropomorphic toad is up to shenanigans and his friends are trying to keep him from having fun, but on the other side of the pond, a headless horseman is murdering a village.”

Will be my 1-year anniversary on Mastodon and the fediverse in June. Been that long since I left Reddit.

But I still feel very much like a noob. For example, I have a hard time grasping why I can’t sign into my Mastodon profile (https://lemmy.world/u/Hyphlosion@donphan.social ) on lemmy. There’s obviously a profile of my posts, so why can’t I sign into it on lemmy and use it?

I keep seeing and promoted as alternatives these days, but hardly any mention of . Pardon my ignorance as someone completely new to the , but I feel like this is a mistake.

Do people actually like being downvoted for their opinions or something? Do people actually like the ability to downvote others?

Squabbles doesn’t have that stupid karma system, and that alone puts it ahead of lemmy and kbin in my book.

(Don’t know about you, but I’m tired of the downvote system being used as a “I don’t like your opinion, so I’m going to be passive-aggressive and press this button in an attempt to censor you” function. Hivemind, Internet bullying is what it is. That’s one of the reasons why I came to Mastodon first.)

Also, Squabbles feels very fresh as well as wholesome and chill. I might just join in one of these times.

After putting my all into yesterday and not even seeing a single ✨ Johto starter, I am going to do the bare minimum for the Community Event tomorrow.

I literally threw money at Niantic to get more balls, incubators, etc. You’d think they would at least throw me a bone. But nooooo.

I played the game so damn hard yesterday that I caught enough of each Starter to have one of each evolution for each starter.

It’s nearing midnight on the day after, and my body is still screaming at me. ()

So yeah, I would’ve not done Community Day at all this time had I not already paid for it. Just gonna stick around home mostly this time because I still feel like garbage. Thanks, Niantic. I’ll be salty for quite a while.

I had my heart set on a ✨ Cyndaquil. That’s all I wanted. You jerks. You absolute jerks.
