    On a happier subject, I just thew away an obscenely large amount of cat toys lol. Plastic storage containers full of toys, cardboard boxes of overflowing with cat toys.

    I buy them too much stuff lol.

    @ashleyspencer Is this stuff you could redirect to a local rescue?

    Nikita is taking her bossy ways to a new level. Now she’s in the bedroom staring at me because she’s eaten all her food, there’s none left, and it’s unacceptable that her bowl is empty. She’s been sitting there staring at me for like 8 minutes now. It’s bedtime either get in the bed or go away lol.

    Those are Dinah’s food and water bowls in front of her.

    @ashleyspencer She's refusing to eat the food in front of her because it's in the other cat's bowl?

    Most of my spices were best before 2020.

    Some before 2018.

    One before 2016.

    #AskFedi #Autism I'm finding it hard to deal with some of my feelings, and it feels like I can't relate to people's experiences. I thought I might be on the spectrum, but whenever I read about it it feels like I'm excluded somehow - not quite neurotypical, but not 'autistic enough' to be autistic. I think grounding my thoughts would help reduce the confusion. Would anyone be happy to talk with me about autistic experience? :blobcatheart: 💜

    Related in spirit: I have a t-shirt that just says KURN, but the "K" and the "U" are slightly too far apart.

    Question for editors / translators. Suppose there is some text with some incorrect info: “Smith et al. (2031)”. However, you can, with a high but not 100% degree of confidence, correct it to “Smith et al. (2021)”. How would you comment on or query this?

    Cassandra,
    @Cassandra@autistics.life avatar

    @FlockOfCats I'd underline "2031" and write "2021?" if I weren't 100% confident.

    I found some neat courses on Coursera Plus to enhance my business education.

    One is about the neuroscience of marketing. Thought maybe it would give me some insights to the non-autistic general population. Others about social media marketing too, which I know nothing about. It will be helpful for my new store since I’ll be targeting neurotypicals too.

    Still going to do the marketing analytics course since it’s already helping me a ton.

    It worked.

    She used the words "intimidation" and "abuse," which are not words I had considered as applicable to me before.

    We have another session next week.

    Cassandra,
    @Cassandra@autistics.life avatar

    @europlus I was already comfortable using the words neglect and trauma, but "abuse" and "intimidation" have an intention to them that I will need to process.

    My partner bought me a beautiful ceramic kettle, dark green with flowers.

    But I read the enclosed brochure and learned:

    1. The handle gets so hot they recommend wearing oven mitts.

    2. There's a possibility of damaging the stove if I don't lift it carefully enough.

    3. There's a possibility of it exploding if I let it boil too long.

    That is not a kettle I can use.

    @Cassandra@autistics.life avatar

    Serious question/thought: I don't have any stim/stress toys, but I get the idea.
    But I have a "clicky" keyboard.

    Does this "count" as a stim toy?

    As in: Could this be part of the appeal?

    Cassandra,
    @Cassandra@autistics.life avatar

    @wakame I think so. Similar to clicking a pen, maybe, or snapping Tupperware closed, or popping bubble wrap. Tactile and auditorily satisfying.
