Got this little fellow, an Argon One M.2 the other day, and looking to set up a few services on my Lan. Still waiting for a few things to arrive. Intrigued by #CasaOS but have zero knowledge about #Docker. I played around a little on an old #RaspberryPi 3 over the weekend just to familiarise myself a bit, but after installing a few docker apps the whole thing froze. I've used #Linux for years, I'm just a regular user, not a Dev or sysadmin, but projects like this can be fun. #ArgonOne#Linux
@stooovie I've heard of proxmox, but don't really know what it is. I'll check it out.
If I understand things correctly, Casaos is by the same people behind the #ZimaBoard, and fully open source, so hopefully the project will be around awhile.
And if it isn't, I can always play around with something else.
Sometimes the tinkering is just as much fun as the finished product, even for someone as generally clueless as me 😃
Starting a #homelab in my new place in #Spain, thinking I'm gonna start with a #ZimaBoard with 2x #4TB HDD/SSD connected to it and running #TrueNAS on it. Has anyone run anything like that and can give me do's and don'ts?
I'm going to use my army of RPI machines to do other things as well. I'd prefer to run low-wattage computers at the moment.
I've had a ton of fun setting up and configuring a ZimaBoard and CasaOS over the last few weeks! While CasaOS is a great fit for your Home Server projects, I also decided to walk through over 20 other home server projects you can start today. These projects are for everyone, from the beginner, to the tinkerer, to the hardcore enthusiast!
I did not imagine this Frankenstein of a connection to my veteran scsi slide scanner would just work. Literally plugged it all in and VueScan found the scanner and produced an image. I was expecting many, many hours of troubleshooting for this to work. My digital hoarder tendencies that resulted in keeping a pci scsi card for multiple decades with no reasonable expectation of it EVER being used have now been vindicated.
