Is there a Mastodon hashtag for people who like to tinker with their personal website and just chat about it / ask questions on here? Like, “hey I tweaked my CSS a bit, cool huh?” -kinda stuff.
This is something I want to try again. Now I’m back writing in a blog I kinda think about alternatives. This solution seems really good at a few levels. What do you think @maique ? Maybe I will move back to Wordpress. I don’t feel tied to any one solution and I want away from the choices like write.as and micro.blog.
Why not get a SSL certificate from an european company?
And why not at least include Mastodon to the sharing snippet if they have their own instance (https://social.network.europa.eu/explore)?
This is good! The Finnish postal service has moved the package tracking to the front page and above the fold!
This is a pet peeve of mine, websites should put the most used information above the fold on the front page. For instance, if you are doing a restaurant website, contact details and lunch information could be there.
Hi all. Hope everyone is doing well. It's about to be 3:00 AM here, and I'm about to get some sleep, but before I do, I wanted to ask for #advice from those who might know more about #technology, creating #websites, and #accessibility than I do. My mom runs a #construction#business and has a website she designed herself with drag and drop on #GoDaddy. She owns the #domain it's on and wants to move the site for a few reasons: it keeps getting hacked and she's getting a lot of spam and scam messages, customer service is poor, and GoDaddy isn't very #accessible with #ScreenReaders, so I can't help her manage her website at all. I've done some research and seen that other recommended no-code website builders are #Wix, #Squarespace, and #Weebly, but I can't find a lot of information on their accessibility. I've seen posts on #Reddit recommending hiring someone to design your website, but we don't know anyone who could do that, and our budget probably wouldn't be high enough. My mom isn't great with #tech and really needs a no-code solution. Does anyone know about the accessibility of website builders like the ones I mentioned, or can you suggest another one that might work? Thanks. #blind@mastoblind
What’s in a #domain name? From .ai to .vc, inside the weird and lucrative marketplace of #website addresses https://restofworld.org/2023/whats-in-a-domain-name/
“Cate estimates the revenue generated by Anguilla’s .ai domain — around $3 million per month — currently accounts for around a third of the government’s monthly budget”
Looking into the possibility of adding #translations to my #WordPress#website and wondering if anyone else is doing so. I think initially I'd be using one of the automatic translators, but would eventually go to manual so I can make sure the style fits my own. My website is about #woodworking but I welcome recommendations from anyone who is using a translation service for their website.
Also interested in how to test my site for #readers for the #blind.
Students’ names and phone numbers are leaking out of online databases and off physical documents. To curb these issues, Japan’s government plans to ban all fax machines and oversee the digitization of all school duties.
I don't understand why some #WebDev "professionals" often use only ready-made #CSS libraries for website design. No, not everything is easy but, for example, creating #links so that users can see how they lead outside the #website is standard in my opinion.
I have illustrated it for clarification. You can of course change the #logo's to other UTF-8 characters or position according to the desired #design ;)
I know it's cheap but stop embedding #youtube videos into your #website. After I watched the video, I see recommendations and get distracted. Hence, I will not read your website anymore if ads were successful.
