Shoutout to Fina Wilke's Warp! Such a nice, self-contained way to just send stuff between devices. Works like a charm for both my 5GB music folder and that Markdown document I wanted to bring with me on my laptop to do some editing while away from my room. Take it for a spin and experience the magic for yourself!

Tried @phpstorm beta terminal. Do NOT like.. at all, just like I do not like terminal either! Please never remove the option to choose which terminal type we want to use.

What is Terminal? How to Install It on :terminal: :ubuntu:

I got curious about the Warp terminal’s cloud connectivity requirements, so I killed the app, turned off wifi and started it again.

Everything worked fine, including tab-completions.

So yeah, “Having a terminal installed which is only operational with an active cloud connection is really stupid” - but that isn’t actually the case with Warp terminal.

WARP is a new Closed-source Terminal written in Rust with AI built in, and it functions a lot like an IDE, rather than a traditional terminal.

The link above contains a really impressive demo video. The features are too numerous to list here, I highly suggest you click through and read the article at OMGUbuntu and watch the video.

Testing the new Warp Terminal on Linux. First impression: a lot of features, but we'll see whether I'll need them all.

Nice to see @nunomaduro and others using and discussing how awesome it can be. Never understood the attraction of . Wes Bos (not on mastodon is he?) has a great write up on making iTerm with zsh look and work in great and useful ways. https://mastodon.social/@laravelnews/111258001542045688

I tried terminal. It feels very modern ( assistant!!1) and fast (written in ), but not so mature as . Few inconsistencies annoyed me, e.g.:

  • browsing command history with up arrow and pressing Enter invokes command. But searching through commands (Ctrl+R, then Enter) pastes command but doesn't invoke it
  • when invoking long-running command w/o output, cursor returns to the left (CR) but doesn't create new line (LF) so it's hard to see if the command is running or not

Command palette is a game changer in complex apps. Don't remember where a particular feature is located? Just search for it!

Cmd + Shift + P:
Cmd + Shift + A: IDEs, like ,
Cmd + Shift + K: @elk client
/: @GIMP
Cmd + P: terminal, @obsidian

Do not confuse command pallete with search everywhere (typically Cmd+K) in , , , . It searches through your documents/files, but not through commands and options.

I hope this is the last time I post about MajorLinux.com and it's containers.

After another catastrophic failure this morning, did some more digging.

This time, instead of focusing on database container, I looked at the container.

Turns out, I may have been slowly DDoS'ing myself by using a long forgotten instance.

Hopefully, this should be the end of it.

Also, shoutout to for helping me solve some of the issues.

I know people have some issues with , but having it explain a Docker issue I didn't understand was very helpful in getting the containers and sites back up.

Come join me on YouTube or Twitch at 1:30 PM today as I build a #ML tutorial using @ProjectJupyter , #PyTorch , #Docker, #Warp, and #LabelStudio of course!

I’m trying out Warp, the MacOS :apple_inc:(for now, Linux and Win coming) Rust-based Terminal :terminal: for the 21st century.
After some hour using it I’m really loving it :ac_heart:

It sounds interesting. I've installed it and been using it for a few hours so it's difficult to make any kind of judgement other than, "it works!"; as in, nothing seems different. haha
