Money can’t buy happiness but it can buy pink grapefruit gelato and that’s kind of the same thing. At my favorite gelateria in Umbertide, Daniella makes it for me when it starts getting hot. Nothing more refreshing on a hot summer day. Missing #Umbria. June 2021
#BloomScrolling Harvesting the lavender is such a sensory experience: the colors, the heady scents, and the constant buzzing of bees. It’s actually more tiring than it looks, but it’s a labor of love. We enjoy the fruits of our labor all year. June 2018 #Umbria
#BloomScrolling My neighbor down the hill just sent me these pictures of my daylilies in bloom from her evening walk, and I can't tell you how happy it made me. #Umbria
#BloomScrolling I’m so sorry that I won’t be here for the daylilies this year. There was a stand here when we bought the house, but I’ve divided and divided them and planted them everywhere. They are special to me because they were my grandmother’s favorite flower. She loved to create hybrids and she had hundreds. The Macon Daylily Club used to make the hour trip each summer to her farm to see her hybrids in bloom. #Umbria June, 2022
#BloomScrolling Well lookie here! I walked down to the sunny side of the barn and saw that the daylilies there have started doing their June thing. Feels like Grandmeme love. 🥰 #umbria (all from the same original stand.)
#BloomScrolling Seeing these pictures of my daylilies from summers past (these from June, 2021) is starting to squeeze my heart. As much as I am looking forward to being a City Mouse (well, at least a Medieval Village Mouse) for the summer, I sorely miss being a Country Mouse and working in my garden in #Umbria.
#BloomScrolling And in honor of the Infiorite in Spello this weekend, I offer the iconic shot from that town. I dare you to go there and not try to photograph this gorgeous side street! #Umbria
#BloomScrolling This weekend marks one of the most special events in #Umbria, the Infiorite di Spello. The streets are filled with art made from fresh flowers. 1/2
#BloomScrolling Some of the memorable carpets we saw at the Infiorite di Spello the year that we went. Many, but not all, have religious themes. The young girl shown beside her work won recognition in the 14 and under category. The piece with the crocodiles was just a part of a very long whimsical Noah's Ark carpet. 2/2 #Umbria
