A great read, and I was so relieved to see someone else note the same trends I have when it comes to how TERFs treat transmasculine people - the sexual entitlement, the infantilization, the concern trolling.
Any #TransMasc folx on here who wear binders? My spouse is looking into them. They've got a larger bust and the binders seem to be designed for smaller-breasted people. Any #tips? Honestly, anything at all might be helpful, as they don't have a lot of friends who are trans masc and I don't know much about binders. #HelpWanted#info
Why? While they may have split up for now, Girlpool's music is something that keeps re-emerging for me. Towards the start of their career, the sound might remind you more of the 90s and 00s indie scene, but their style was restless and traveled into spaces that are haunting and intimate, frivolous and lively.
Both Avery Tucker and Harmony Tividad's voices have evolved over time, and it is interesting to see how both of them adapted as each other's creative directions evolved.
To get a sense of their most recent album, I suggest "Lie Love Lullaby>" It has a really good hook to it, and give you a sense of how Avery adapted his voice over transition too.
I also would suggest people check out the interview with Avery on the Gender Reveal podcast. Tuck and Avery go to some interesting places, both about music and trans life, that I've chewed on for a while. This includes our relationship to our voices and what it means to reckon with the footprint your pre-transition self has left our your life and career.
Also, #Trans friends, especially #TransMasc folks, could you comment to this post about some other trans masc and trans men musical artists you love and songs of theirs that speak to you?
I have a few that I go back to again and again, but I feel like I need to expand my rotation of transmasc musicians/singers and want to share more here for #TransMusicMonday. I'm especially curious about music that maybe speaks to you all in the intimate ways some of my favorite trans fems can do.
Loving Madtodon, but well, the #trans representation isn’t particularly diverse on my timeline.
Who should I be following? #BIPOC, #Non-Binary, #TransMasc voices are ones I need to hear more.
I’d also love to hear from more long-transitioned folks because heck, I don’t hear those voices much either (although I myself fit into that category).
Our community is diverse and I’d love to be able to engage with and lift up more of that diversity here.
If you’re #VoiceTraining for your transition, please listen to me:
I’m proud of you 😌
Your best is more than enough ✨
You’re allowed to feel proud just for trying, that’s all we can ever ask of ourselves 🏳️⚧️🫶
And if it’s on your list of plans, and you can’t or aren’t ready to start training today - that’s okay too! You have all the love and validity I can convey, and know there is no time pressure or deadline in sight either - whatever happens, you have got this under your control, and all will work out because we can will it so, I promise 🫂
So I had #TopSurgery#DoubleIncision with #NippleGrafts roughly 3 years ago now. I will say my surgeon did a really good job on the nipple grafts. In my humble opinion.
I would love to get nipple piercings someday. But I first wanted to ask anyone who has had top surgery and got nipple piercings, what do I need to know? Or if you are a #piercer and have information/advice, help please! and thank you!
On my Mental Soundtrack tonight: this showed up in my feed a week ago, and I have to pass that good deed along, as I have been slain by the Black Trans Girl Magic of Honey Dijon. 💖 :heart_transgender:
Hi I’m Adrian. :apartyblobcat: I’m a nerdy, music-loving, flamboyant #bisexual#trans guy from #NewYork. And if you couldn’t tell from my username, I love cats. :cate:
I’m a recent compsci graduate who just started his career as a software engineer. I have a fascination with all sorts of nerd stuff like web dev, retro tech, and more.
I'm a huge music lover and concertgoer. I listen to nearly everything but my fave genres include metal, emo, post-hardcore, punk, europop, hyperpop, EDM, dark wave, and classical stuff. I’ve been playing piano since I was a kid. 🎵
I came out in 2015. Been on testosterone since 2017 (I do a form of T called “testopel”). Got top surgery and medical tattooing on my nipples. Had my name and gender changed. :trans_cowboy: If you have questions about #transmasc stuff, feel free to reach out.
I mostly post about #music, #tech, #lgbt stuff, & #cats. I also like to boost cool art. Happy to be here, love the comfy vibe of this place. ❤️
I also make custom charts for said 5-fret games, over on https://chorus.fightthe.pw (search my username under Charter), and I have an interest in collecting and modding GH controllers.
I'm heavily burnt out, and I suspect I'm in the #AuDHD club. That's about it on that front 😅
I like #TheMarsVolta a lot. Expect to see them mentioned frequently here lol
Locked for no particular reason. Very likely nothing personal if I don't accept your request. Also, redoing this post partially because of newcomers (Hi!), but also because the last one felt clunky to me.
Stay dangerous ❤️
Edit | Clarifying: I've been on fedi for a bit already ✨️
Hey, I'm Falco! a high-risk art hermit- in dire need of ongoing help!
Homeless, in a hotel, in debt to my last land-jerks and other bills.
Please read ahead for my art and support links! Dough-nations reach me fastest, but anything helps! I'd appreciate support with helping spread my posts to survive!
An admittedly moody stop on my Pride Month musical memory trip tonight, back to former New York Dolls frontman David Johansen's 1978 solo album. As a queer who struggled to fit into any of the labels, these lyrics still speak to me:
"I can't get the kind of love that I want
So let's just dance, and I'll forget..."
I really really really like this piece. The style reminds me of impressionism and feels very warm & unique, plus I don't see transmasc art that often, so to see one with a Slavic folk theme on top of it makes me really happy :) :heart_trans: :blobhaj_flag_transmasc:
Yesterday was my first time walking around in public (at a pool) without a shirt on, just swim trunks. No one said anything, no one stared (that I noticed). I just got to exist as I am. I had an amazing time swimming with my family. Below is a selfie we took before heading home. #Trans#Queer
Since a lot of subreddits are going private right now (I fully support them), I noticed that some of my informative ftm posts were hidden temporarily. This includes the posts I made about my experience taking a less common form of testosterone called “testopel” and my experience getting medical tattooing on my nipples to correct some cosmetic flaws / make my nipples look nicer after top surgery. I think some of the posts are back up now but I’m not sure.
Regardless, I just wanted to say that if anyone ever has any questions about those topics or about ftm transition in general, you can absolutely message me about it here or reply this post. 👍 Might start posting the informative stuff here instead anyway.
Hi, Mastodon! I am writing my thesis for my Master's in Social Work. Originally, I wanted to focus on butch women obtaining top surgery.
Now, I want to look at how the trans community navigates/negotiates/pressures the medical community into creating a more expansive view on gender and a less medicalized view of gender dysphoria. (ie, viewing dysphoria as a social problem, not psychological.)
Do you have sources? Do you know people who are involved?
