[ding] Column's done! Many thanks for all the #SoloRPG links! I had more than I could fit into a single column ... but that just means I get to do a second column on this topic :)
I've been diving into more hopeful scifi lately, but last night I bought MERGER for a dose of corporate horror. Rolled up a char this morning and woof. This is def not a game I'm gonna be winning, in any sense of the word. I'm only past the first encounter and I've already had to sic my bodyguard on union organizers and carved my body full of runes... This is after a first failed attempt of trying to help the strikers instead.
Spent the evening last night working on the second edition of "Fable on your Table", my #papercraft#miniatures skirmish #solorpg.
I've whittled down and codified how companions work in this edition, giving them a simple stat block that is easy to track and gives a lot of flexibility. Really happy with how it's turning out!
(Interested? Check out the first edition and follow for updates at lonespelunker.itch.io).
PRO: pretty damn good at a #megadungeon point-crawl. Enough structure to hold it together, enough randomness that it could be replayed for a different experience. Also the system is very streamlined, and runs fast and easy.
CON: The random tables included are really ONLY good at a megadungeon point-crawl, and more specifically, the megadungeon they present. It would need work or other, external tables to do anything else.
I've created a #SoloRPG community over on the #Lemmy instance https://lemm.ee. Lemmy is a #Reddit lookalike for the Fediverse. The community is available at https://lemm.ee/c/solorpg (the recommended way of accessing it), but it can also be followed from any Fediverse account by following @solorpg.
My journaling game about going on vacation, Souvenirs, just received its update! ✨
It's a visual update that doesn't change the content of the experience but makes the rulebook more beautiful and pleasant to play with, with a colorful & improved layout and some new illustrations.
ICYMI, Souvenirs is a solo role-playing game about writing the journal of a character that goes on vacation for a week, discovers charming places and gets items as souvenirs of their visits. It's an introspective game about the memories we associate with objects and places!
Not going to buy every piece of equipment for my crew, I can retcon basic gear as needed. But I am figuring out what’s in their ship’s locker.
It helps that the Baronet is on the board for Faliero Arsenal Group, so I’m giving them a 10% discount on guns. Too bad that while their guns are easy to use, they are low quality and prone to dangerous mishaps.
Decided to try some Solo Traveller. So making four characters and will see how big of a ship they can afford. I figure they can have up to 50% of their ship a loan.
Of course, they are likely to need to hire a few more for the crew, depending on ship size. One ship share (50 tons) so far.
