bringing you random shark facts since 2023 [looks at script: oops wrong script...]
bringing you a Misskey fork that follows upstream when ever possible with added features such as federated post editing, mastodon api, federated profile backgrounds, federated music status via listenbrainz and more since 2023.
this account is used for updates regarding #Sharkey aswell as support but also may occasionally post some random facts about Sharks Sharkey
Until it scales, and then the issues return. Firefish and it's forks are on a fundamentally broken version of Misskey. I'm looking forward to blahaj.zone being on the much-improved backend Misskey v13 at some point. We'll be going with Sharkey the minimalist, trans-led fork that adds in some Firefish/Iceshrimp QoL features. I'm loving using it at my backup on ambrosia.moe and our blahaj zone test instance, and many folks who've left BZ thanks to our performance issues have ended up over at transfem.social the instance of the Sharkey lead devs.
@WildSolcte@jo i can recommend amborsia.moe and the flagship instance transfem.social as these are currently the only public general purpose instances however i do understand why someone especially a transmasc person would feel uncomfortable joining that instance
What's the status of federation between Lemmy/KBin and Misskey/Sharkey/Firefish/Iceshrimp? I just tried loading several Lemmy and Kbin posts in Sharkey and it doesn't work. I remember having the same issue with Firefish, and I vaguely recall hearing awhile back it was something related to authorized fetch. Have their been any recent developments on that front? #FediQuestions#FediverseQuestions#Threadiverse#Lemmy#KBin#Misskey#Sharkey#Firefish#Iceshrimp
Just noticed the official #Sharkey page has a list of servers! Still short but it is nice to see some development :neofox_aww: https://joinsharkey.org
Hi @vyr thought I'd give you a heads up about #Sharkey a fork of Misskey v.13 (later than FF/IS) and that the devs have worked on a Mastodon API for the fork. I've encouraged them to reach out given the popularity of Feditext. https://github.com/transfem-org/Sharkey
It's almost a year since I started actively being on here and my observations so far:
It is actually very opaque to most people how different Fedi software using ActivityPub actually interact with each other
You might think you know what other people on other software see/do but you probably don't! Unless you have an account on other instances using other softwares and actually test things out!
Also, this has massive implications on Fedi safety, if that is something you are actively working on.
(terminology might be wrong: I just did a very quick lookup of it)
@geraineon
lemmy has a search function which leaves much to be desired > moreover, interactions between lemmy instances and microblogging fedi happen to a considerably lesser degree compared to interactions between kbin instances and microblogging fedi > that said, i have not stumbled over unlisted posts mirrored on lemmy so far > but lemmy does display posts to followers, as does mastodon > see e.g. https://hachyderm.io/@rakyat/110716000945480054
this example shows a post from calckey which is visible on lemmy > microbloggers using the *keys should take notice: yes, posts from the *keys are visible via lemmy, although *key users cannot communicate directly with lemmy instances #fediverse#lemmy#kbin#mastodon#misskey#firefish#iceshrimp#sharkey
Antennas.
Antennas are effectively custom timelines. They work approximately like watching hashtags, but they can look for normal text as well. You can add as many phrases as you like and the results can be filtered with an ignore list.
You can make an antenna that just shows posts from specific users and notifies you when they post something new, you can make an antenna that collects posts containing or excluding certain key words, or you can make an antenna that collects only posts with files attached. You can even make an antenna consisting of “Posts from specific users” with “Show replies” checked.
Setting up
You can set up antenna by going to the More! section on your sidebar, and selecting Antennas. Press Add + to create your first. This is where you can also manage & edit previously created antennas.

4 & 5) When you click Add + you get this page to set up your antenna. I've set one up as my Calckey antenna and another to alert me when PastaThief posts. There's a lot to go through here. Expect a separate post sometime soon.
6 & 7) What those antenna feeds look like.
On our progressive web app you can access your antennas by selecting the UFO in the top right corner.
Clicking on the UFO button brings up all my antennas and the link to manage/edit them
