Nice to see that the government has amended the Canada Shipping Regulations to allow municipalities to specifically regulate wakesurfing. Previously, wakesurfing could only be regulated with wakeboarding, waterskiing, and other watersports towing.
The #RideauCanal has a wakesurfing problem, as well as a waterskiing/wakeboarding problem.
Unfortunately the #ParksCanada management of the canal is terrible and won't take concrete steps to regulate it appropriately.
Since the #RideauCanal will quickly be returning to a more liquid state, #Winterlude needs to adapt.
Rescue responders have developed these interesting inflatable rescue kayaks that can be walked across thin ice.
It looks a bit silly and I think this has great potential to be costumed into horses, dragons, cows wearing rubber boots, etc during some sort of race to replace the ice dragon boats.
Maybe a team of the Day Mayor and Night Mayor in a race that starts exactly at dusk?

It was nice to be out on the canal again for first time in a few years even if it was a complete and unmitigated disaster for my finances and mental health 😔😅
That's life though I guess.. what sucks is I can't even get fixed because the only Panasonic authorized repair shop in Canada requires you to have a credit card before you can send them a camera for repair.. fml
The canal was only open for a few days before the weather got too warm and they closed it again..
