Every time I'm using my #AirPodsPro2 and I'm listening to a podcast app like @overcastfm & a FaceTime Audio comes in, it hands off audio to the iPhone. Good so far.
Then FTA ends & audio should pick back up in the app, right? Nope!
When FTA ends, I hear the DONG sound from the #AirPodsPro 2. You know, the one that says they disconnected from the #iPhone.
I must go to Overcast & re-connect to the AirPods via Airplay! Then hit play!

We get caught up, try out a new (very bad) intro song, and talk about the copyrightability of legal filings -- something none of us know much about. Also sexism in #chess.
The #Castro#Podcast app has been down for days, and looks like it might even be sunset over the next couple months... even worse, with the servers down people can't export their feeds to even move easily.
I took this moment to try moving back to #Overcast which still has most of my feeds only to realize it has no way to "Mark all" as played and doesn't even reliably let me do it by hand. 🫠 It also really makes me miss the smooth UI and Inbox → Queue of Castro.
Sometimes, I wonder if I've made a huge mistake by tackling a giant rewrite of my 10-year-old ObjC/UIKit app in Swift/SwiftUI that'll probably end up costing me ~1.5 years of development time.
Then I try to do ANYTHING with ANY new API in the old codebase from Objective-C and UIKit.
It quickly becomes apparent that this rewrite was not much of a choice — it's a necessity.
Tip for Overcast users. If you follow a podcast, and find that the "current" tab doesn't have all the episodes you want, find the "all" tab, and the "all" button near the top of the screen, and press that, and you'll have all episodes in your cvrrent tab, so you can listen for as long as you want, without needing to go to the all tab and play one episode at a time. Yeah, this definitely makes Overcast better for me and listening to everything in a feed.

@andycarolan I use ListenBox to subscribe to YouTube channels as podcasts. You can choose an audio or video feed on a per channel basis, subscribe in any podcast app (I use Pocket Casts for video and Overcast for audio) and you don’t get any of YouTube’s ads.
