Welcome to #BikeNite (similar to #BikeSchool on the other site). Thank you for joining, and I hope we all enjoy chatting about cycle stuff! Feel free to answer whenever at your convenience. Anyone can join, now or later. Reply to what you like, and boost for visibility.
We'll start out with our introduction.

Q1. Where are you posting from today? Why do you ride your cycle if there are other options available? Why is it important to you?

#BikeNite A4 @lopta @glightly @ascentale find out if your city/jurisdiction has a way to report missing bike parking / #open311 or some staffer in a broom closet who is making a spreadsheet about how difficult it is to park a bike in which locations, and let them know you wanted to bike there. #BikeTooter

Hey nerds! Join me and @bikeloudpdx for this Thursday at 7, back online for the winter (or maybe it is online/hybrid if you invite friends over.) We've got maps-vs-reality updates, data and budget analysis projects, experiments, all kinds of tech fun to dig into if you want to help make a better city for everyone.

With the change in seasons, the type of debris that is in the bike lanes changes as well. @carolski asks:

Q6. This time of year the bike lanes can get messy. What can be done (by you or others) when something-leaves, glass, road cinders- interferes with your ride?

(Photo is from the spring, when the best kind of debris was in the bike lane)

#BikeNite A6 I'm a big proponent of cities having #open311 data and multiple methods of reporting but #Portland has a not-so-open pdxreporter app with the category "debris in roadway" that you can report accumulations of leaves, glass/gravel in the bike lane & get it scheduled for sweeping relatively quickly. We're advocating for more transparency in that so we can analyze the data & improve policy, but do what you can to notify the agency having jurisdiction in writing.

Somebody asked whether the @bikeloudpdx infrastructure reporting rides get results. Well we stopped here in June, and I wasn't back through until Aug (maybe it was painted before that... it would be nice to get a status update, but you usually don't 😞 let's do #open311 or something, get that transparency in govt.) #Portland #pdxBikes

picture of N interstate north of the Greeley split with new paint narrowing that spot somewhat. It's still too wide but I guess it's something.

The @bikeloudpdx hack night reporting work is in the process of growing a database to feed the #open311 portal or some #BikeLaneUprising-ish kind of map and complain tool, that we're going to have to host ourselves to be sure the data is there when somebody needs it to sue the state for #ODOTGTFOpdx, or city of #Portland for #PBOT's deference to cars and finger-pointing about how they can't do safety because politics and "please crack open that General Fund piggy bank for us 🤲 ". 📏 🤓 🚘 🚘 🚘 🚘 🙃
