#Elon can’t make his mind up. #npr now no longer ‘state affiliated’ media… now ‘government funded.’ This all makes no sense at all. Also @VOANews is suddenly labelled government funded too… and yet is a public diplomacy outlet - so it operates in a very different way to @npr Here #twitter and #ElonMusk revealing they have no idea how these broadcasters are governed and what they do. #media#publicdiplomacy 🧵
Also @twitter doesn’t even seem to have a definition in its policies for how it’s applying new ‘Government funded’ label. Does it mean ‘government funded but independent’? If so say so…But I’m not sure #VOA and #NPR can be seen as fully equivalent in purpose here. https://help.twitter.com/en/rules-and-policies/state-affiliated
@npr What I would do… I would have a clear as hell #Twitter label for #media that’s known to be demonstrably ‘government controlled’ like #RT, I would keep ‘state affiliated’ for softer influence like #VOANews#RFERL#bbcworldservice#AJEnglish, and have ‘public broadcaster’ #bbc#npr. (And keep an eye on whether government interference continues #BBC which might shift it toward my ‘state affiliated’ category)

In 1984, Michael McDonough of Brigham Young University produced this series of 13 audio adaptations of famous Ray Bradbury stories, in conjunction with National Public Radio. Voiceover actor Paul Frees provided the narration, while Bradbury himself was responsible for the opening voiceovers. Enjoy...
