Today marks the 76th anniversary of the Deir Yassin Massacre, when hundreds of armed Zionist militiamen from the pre-1948 #Irgun and #Stern gangs committed one of the cruelest massacres in the history of Palestine.
On April 9, 1948, Zionist gangs raided the village of Deir Yassin, west of #Jerusalem, killing nearly 250 Palestinian civilians, mainly women, children and the elderly. Cases of rape, mutilation and humiliation were documented.
Of nearly 70 #massacres during the 1948 #Nakba, Deir Yassin would become one of those atrocities where almost all the acts of war criminality were unleashed: killing, destruction, pillaging, rape, and displacement.
#DeirYassin is a powerful symbol of Palestinian dispossession, as well as a historical fact that the occupying Israeli regime must confront when retelling its national narrative.

Good to see President Biden strengthen Endangered Species Act protections for biodiversity and imperiled species. We want to see more, and as co-chair of the Endangered Species Act Caucus, I'll keep pushing to fix the damage Trump did to the ESA.
The world is watching. No #genocide happens without mass #ecocide too. Unforgivable decisions by #USgov - #warmongering government responsible for murdering my family members in #Vietnam & your government owes reparations for #WarCrimes. We never forgot. Neither will Palestinians or other victims of US funded #massacres on #humanity.
Hamas cruelty, Gaza’s ordeal and a tide of fear sweeping Britain’s Jews
Another clumsy attempt by a sub ed to capture a complex and balanced article. It is worth reading, but the backlash is only too predictable.
‘But, he added, “huge numbers of Palestinian civilians are trapped in the middle. Israel is not at war with the Palestinian population but with Hamas.” Ordinary people were suffering, and more than a million were trapped in Rafah with nowhere to go’
In this vitally important book on a topic of acute concern for anyone interested in military strategy, international security, or human rights, Alexander B. Downes reminds readers that democratic and authoritarian governments alike will sometimes deliberately kill large numbers of civilians as a matter of military strategy.

> When TIME reached out to the renowned Palestinian poet, academic, and activist Refaat Alareer last month to discuss how Palestinian society in #Gaza was responding to the deadliest and most destructive war to hit the enclave in living memory, he had a lot to say.
> "This is something I really like to highlight," he said in a #WhatsApp voice note, noting that he'd been collecting anecdotes and encounters in order to write an essay on the very subject. "I think it's necessary for people to understand what's going on beyond the #genocide, the #bombs, and the #massacres."
> But Alareer never got the chance. Last week, the 44-year-old was killed in an #Israeli airstrike in northern Gaza alongside six members of his family.
TELL PALMA, SPAIN THAT BULLFIGHTING IS CRUELTY — NOT CULTURE
In a merciless move, the city of #Palma, #Spain, has declared itself a bullfighting-friendly city with a claimed “obligation” to promote the intentional torture of sentient bulls.
The city had made a compassionate change in 2015 to not champion the gruesome #bullfighting events, in which #bulls are harassed, speared repeatedly, and left to wallow in their own gushing blood before cheering crowds.
But a new push from a political party has reversed that decision, with the #PalmaCityCouncil instead citing an outdated 2013 ruling that claimed #bullfighting is a protected “cultural element.”
But the depravity doesn’t stop there. There’s also now pressure for the #Balearic Government to promote these #massacres to children, who currently are prevented from attending the bloody spectacles.
“Free world, where are you regarding these massacres committed against this bereaved and oppressed people?” al-Akkad continued, in a video released by the besieged enclave’s Ministry of Health on Wednesday.
