I was planning on posting this today anyways, but now I find out it's #WorldBeeDay? I'm hoping that's a good sign 😅
I've been teaching myself how to use #Krita & dipping my toe into the world of #DigitalPainting.
Don't worry, I don't plan on ever stopping my usual pen & ink art, but there are some things I want to create that I need to stretch into other mediums for.
Anyways, I did a “learn krita while painting Bob Ross” tutorial which was super helpful, ...
then did another Bob Ross on my own, and now this:
this is only my second non-Bob painting, and I'm fairly pleased with how it came out!
I know I have A LOT of improvement still, the world of color is rather a bit of a conundrum for me as I'm so used to working in black and white. I know I have a few artist mutuals here, so please feel free to critique, also if you have any favorite tutorials, or books to learn from, that would be awesome too!
@Quinnypig I hereby, as the #krita maintainer give everyone officially the right to verb "krita" and say "the image was krittered."
Or "kritaed" or whatever you may make of it: krita is a trademark, and you can play with it to your heart's content. (Except for selling counterfied spyware laden versions in app stores or on ebay.)
After I added some older #Mermay works on DeviantArt, I mentioned one #mermaid was based on my sister. So I had short conversation in comments and other user asked me, if I plan to draw myself or my sister as a mermaid. I thought it could be a good idea and started #drawing.
Initially I planned more stereotypical scene, treasures from a shipwreck etc. Later I thought ships nowadays would drop more modern artifacts, like electronics. So what about made this picture also a symbol of my current complicated relationship with modern tech, as an IT person with some knowledge but also kind of Luddite who actively avoid mainstream devices and services?
When I sometimes read or hear about newest drama in corporate software world, my most often first reaction is similar to this picture :blobcat_uwucry:
Mixture of surprise, shock and disgust...
Just want to say thanks for the 15K followers. It's amazing how calming it can be for me as an artist to know that my biggest audience is on the Fediverse right now. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who contributed to this.
I was happy to once again collaborate with Pidilite (An Indian multinational company specializing in adhesive and related products) to transform their Rangeela Mascot from 2D to 3D. This version of the mascot was for the moulding dough product. The mascot will be used in packaging and marketing material. This was a fun and refreshing project. Creating the clay dough effect was an amazing experience.
I can't get over how insufferable Windows 11 is for creating things. Win11 stops taking pen input--not freeze. Pen input just stops, and this is with an official Microsoft pen. Drawing art in Krita is a game of red-light-green-light.
Darkradiant doesn't update the 3D window. No lighting preview. :/
#Mermay - demonic edition.
Because if hell is underground, it should be under oceans. And its gates would be in deepest place, guarded by creatures like this :blobCat_devil:
Sitting #kingfisher - based on my mother's photos. I rather exactly "copied" its pose.
For some reason pattern on its head and wings looks like the sky for me. Not sure if it was so visible on original photos.
Hello !
you know what'd be a cool feature for an image editor?
"export last action as code"
where it looks at the last thing in the undo/redo buffer, and saves it out as a program (in C/C++/whateverscripting) that uses an ImageEditorLibrary to do the same thing
@foone For some reason, I thought the GNU image manipulator could already do this. Maybe it was just the UI focus on playing scripts last time I used it. (I use #Krita for what little image editing I do for a while now.)
