#Bloomscrolling from sunset #hiking at Dog Mountain a few days ago. The hills are alive with the sound of balsam root jumping around! Mainly because it was pretty windy! Also around were paintbrush here and there, lots of cow-parsnip(?) and occasional chocolate lily! Seems like the lupines are finished for the season.
More #Sunset#hiking on Dog Mountain.. Sunset appropriately had some sun dogs! Mt. St. Helens (aka Lawetlat'la) trying to grab attention from the combined might of the sun and the balsamroot.

@enog I love the red wing blackbirds! We have lots here. They are very aggressive if you're near their territory. Basically, if you're smaller than a lightweight aircraft - they will try & challenge & drive any perceived threat away. I've seen them team up & go after mature bald eagles before. They are little in size but immensely brave. Super tough, defensive fighter birds!
Yes, he was very aggressive, getting really close to me, making a lot of noise😉 especially when I was walking. When I stopped moving, he became less aggressive 🤔
Marden Stone Circle. Built in the Neolithic age. I just marvel at the age of these structures and who stood here and decided Yep. Good place to whack some stones up I reckon!
This is the largest circle on Dartmoor at 38m. Although only a handful of stones remain, it's still impressive, and the view across to Dartmoor is astonishing.
May the artwork take you to a place of great beauty and majesty, one in which you feel watched over by a benevolent force of goodness, truth, and peace.
A solitary balloon drifting over forest where very very few people ever go. This seriously spooked me, as there is no reason for anyone to be there, let alone with a balloon. For context, this is 7km into a river valley you can only reach by #hiking or #cycling, or potentially another 5km from the workers at a dam. (old photo) #weird#pnw#forest#scary
More travel photos.. I had a plan to do some #hiking around #Grenoble for a few days, and when I got there, it proceeded to rain with thunder for most of the time I was there! There was however one clear morning and one clear afternoon, so I did get a little hiking in.. Stretch number one was taking their cable car up to the Fort de la Bastille, and hike some trails behind it. A bonus was a long rocky tunnel (Grotte de Mandrin) which from the outside had a questionable wood plank walkway above.
I had found a trail on openstreetmaps that seemed to have a "cave", but when I got there, it was more like a hole about a foot wide. It did lead into darkness so it's technically a cave I suppose. Still though pretty nice #hiking through some forest, up to a rocky ridge for lunch.
My final afternoon in #Grenoble, being a fan of somewhat strange public #staircases, I went to the Escalier des géants, roughly 380 steps (or about 140 big steps). Then once you get up the stairs, you are invited to do pull ups! I'm pretty sure Grenoble trains ninjas around here, because there's also a decked out obstacle course nearby. I'm apparently bad at pull ups so I just continued walking around past the Bastille and back down to the city, via many other twisty trails with stairs.
The weather forecast today was "a lot of rain". In the morning it had changed to "rain from 3pm".so we decided to do a small hike on the local #blomberg.
In the photos you see a couple of impressions from our 3h activity. It was really the best decision to go out.
We just returned, had a coffee are relaxing on the couch and the rain and thunder just started rolling over us.
