Time to install, Microsoft Windows 11. I've decided to embrace the spyware, adware, and all the Microsoft nonsense. / Sarcasm
🤣
Truthfully, I've, actually, decided to give RavynOS a try. It is a FreeBSD distro that attempt to be more MacOS like.
I've not had much luck with BSD in the past as a desktop. More than often, many of them refuse to boot, and the ones that do boot, tend to lack sound, wifi, and often leave me stuck with small screen resolutions
I'm kinda sad that the NextStep derivates are all in maintenance mode and barely used (not counting Apple products). That OS had so many great ideas.
Have you looked at HelloSystem and AiryxOS? They're both #FreeBSD-based OS projects taking inspiration from early Mac OS X.
#HelloSystem is trying to recreate the feel, functionality, and philosophy of pre-iOSification Mac OS X, while #Airyx is actually striving for Mac OS compatibility.
Incredibly helpful to see at first glance which application a document is associated to be opened with. And to be able to set the application for each document, not just for all documents of the same MIME type. #helloSystemhttps://github.com/probonopd/Filer/
「 (hello) In fact they're mostly avoiding Objective C and XML plists and other Mac technology in favor of simpler and/or more modern ways (e.g. Qt, C++, JSON).
Airyx is explicitly trying to be compatible with Mac software at a source and eventually a binary level, without losing support for FreeBSD/X11 software, and to implement a very similar experience on the desktop and at the command line 」
The big reason I could never use Linux as my main OS is that I’d spend all my time switching distros and tweaking things. macOS gives me about the max number of options I can have and get anything done.
