@dell I think whoever has a suspended or permanently banned #birdsite account should post whatever story that #ElonMusk didn't like on here instead since he can't shut down #Mastodon or the #Fediverse.
Elon Musk is threatening to end his $44 billion agreement to buy Twitter, accusing the company of refusing to give him information about its spam bot accounts.
Official White House staffers rely on their verified accounts to inform the public on behalf of the administration. Verification, combined with the designated Twitter profiles, helped to ensure the public could trust those messages.
#ElonMusk announced earlier in March that Twitter will begin removing legacy verified check marks on April 1
#NPR is leaving #Twitter to protest #ElonMusk's decision to label the radio network as government funded media. "We are not putting our journalism on platforms that have demonstrated an interest in undermining our credibility."
#Elon can’t make his mind up. #npr now no longer ‘state affiliated’ media… now ‘government funded.’ This all makes no sense at all. Also @VOANews is suddenly labelled government funded too… and yet is a public diplomacy outlet - so it operates in a very different way to @npr Here #twitter and #ElonMusk revealing they have no idea how these broadcasters are governed and what they do. #media#publicdiplomacy 🧵
Elizabeth Warren is raising concerns to Tesla Board Chairman Robyn Denholm that its Board of Directors failed to meet its legal responsibility to protect Tesla and uphold its fiduciary duty to shareholders from Elon Musk's actions after he bought Twitter.
#Tesla was sued Wednesday by a California state agency that says the #ElonMusk-led carmaker is stonewalling an investigation into alleged #discrimination and #harassment.
I don't usually go for conspiracy theories. But sometimes my mind drifts, especially when I think about who funded Musk's Twitter takeover.
I wonder: Would these people have paid billions for a third-tier social network? Or would they have paid billions to poison the watering hole where journalists and activists worldwide gather?
@Green_Footballs@noahshachtman Couldn't agree more. Each act seems designed to dump more users. Removing safety controls + allowing Nazis. Preventing one's tweets from being seen & no text verification unless you pay. And the pièce de résistance: Paid blue checks. People were on Twitter so they could interact with people who are prominent or experts or well known (and not Nazis). Now that those folks aren't verified, you don't know whether you're talking to a troll or the real thing. #elonmusk
I know I'm certainly tired of #elonmusk, but, sigh, if you think he's not a Russian shill, well, he just removed the "government funded media" label from the propaganda network RT.
@Green_Footballs What about this makes him think it's attractive to advertisers?
I mean, it seems most of #ElonMusk's bright ideas depend on a great faith in user masochism
I'm blocking all blue checks on #Twitter unless they're someone I actually follow or if I'm interested in anything they post even if I'm not following. I already block all hexagon profile pics on sight.
Twitter is going to hell right now, but I still have friends there. They're the only reason I haven't left.
On Mastodon, there aren't millions of #ElonMusk stans clamoring to reframe an embarrassingly public failure as an unmitigated success.
There is no Kool-Aid here. No one has been conned into worshipping some silver spoon oligarch. #WYSIWYG
Even more importantly, that oligarch doesn't get the opportunity to hide his obvious failure through the manipulation of "the algorithm". It's all laid bare, for all to see.
