I began 2024 with demo showcasing a Kubernetes control plane on FreeBSD, along with Linux Worker Nodes in bhyve and the Cilium CNI to enable the data plane communication.

Yesterday, I deployed a #Rancher #RKE2 #Kubernetes cluster with #Cilium and removed kube-proxy in the process. Maybe I'm behind the times, but it's the first time I've done cilium (used to flannel, calico, canal, etc.). Looking forward to a simpler and faster Kubernetes!

#eBPF carries a GPL copyleft license baggage from Linux, and this makes trouble to Apache2 #opensource, whether ones centered around eBPF like #cilium or an experimental side feature like in #Istio.
