to be clear, GPL is a valid and OSI approved open source license, and is the predominant license in the Linux sphere. In the context of this thread, I highlighted that eBPF, with its kernel level stuff, carries over this license to the higher level user space Apache2 apps.

@slink sorry if the "baggage" term was offensive, that's what we use in OpenTelemetry for the context that's attached telemetry and propagates downstream 🙂
