"Officials seized AP's equipment ... Tuesday afternoon, arguing the global news agency had violated the new law by providing a live feed of northern #Gaza to Qatar-based #AlJazeera, AP reported.
According to the #Israel-i Ministry of Communications, the confiscated equipment includes a camera, tripod, live modem and two microphones.
AP reported that it "complies with Israel's military censorship rules,"
OFC, I checked a host of sources, including European. All state the same so far.
Try "heli crash Raisi" and #DuckDuckGo--all the same in several languages:
"hard landing" and "search."
#AlJazeera has SOME good reporting and is definitely one of the most interested publications in the matter.
A death of a prominent politician can not be hidden all too long, just the circumstances be "re-interpreted."
Raisi is not at the very top of my Wanted List, but the world would...
Students active in campus protests value Al Jazeera’s on-the-ground coverage and its perspective on the #Israel - #Hamas war. They draw distinctions between it and major American outlets.
"Bisan’s heroic storytelling exemplifies the spirit of AJ+ and the wider Al Jazeera network, of which we are a part.”
“We strive to tell the human story from where the missiles land, to elevate the human spirit and the hope that it brings for better days, to shine a light on places and stories those in power would rather keep shrouded in darkness.”
IDF are conducting operations in several areas of Rafah city, according to our colleagues at Al Jazeera Arabic, while reports are emerging of heavy clashes between Palestinian armed groups and Israel’s military in the east of the city.
Video showed a Palestinian family cowering in a residence as the sounds of heavy machine-gun fire & explosions could be heard nearby in what is being described as a “night of fire”
Interview with Al Jazeera’s managing editor Mohamed Moawad:
The Israeli government is trying to conceal what’s happening in Gaza, intimidate Al Jazeera, delegitimize the whole coverage, to try to make sure that the story doesn’t reach the world.
Moawad calls on the international community to condemn Israel’s suppression of a free press.

#Israel#AlJazeera#PressFreedom#Journalism#Media#News: "The government on Sunday voted unanimously in favor of closing the Al-Jazeera TV channel in Israel. The decision authorized the communications minister to order the channel to halt its broadcasts in Israel, in Arabic and English; shutter its offices; have some of its equipment confiscated and restrict access to its website.
In making this anti-democratic decision, Israel took a step down the slippery slope on the way to becoming a country that silences people. Previous governments that closed Al-Jazeera's offices were Egypt and the Gulf countries. In any case, Al-Jazeera shouldn't be shuttered, but doing so may turn out to be only a preface to a policy in which any media outlet, Israeli or international, that the government doesn't like is shut down. That's how it is when there's an extreme right-wing government that has declared war on freedom of expression and on the rule of law in Israel."

“Most chilling about this decision is what it will mean for Al Jazeera journalists and crews working and living in Gaza. They are not mentioned in the government decision. By branding Al Jazeera as a national security threat, we are deeply concerned that the Israeli government may view them as legitimate military targets. They are not.”

“As a democracy, the people of Israel depend upon the free flow of information, particularly right now when the decisions their government is making are so enormously impactful for the future of their country’s relationships in the Middle East and with the broader international community."
