I have to do something difficult today:

Announce to everyone that I'll start raising the prices on my books this weekend, i.e. tomorrow.

I'm telling you anyway because I want to give you the opportunity grab any of my books you've waited to read before the price goes up.

(At least that's what I'm telling myself. And you now.)

Here's a Books2Read link to everything I've written in every store where they are sold (except my own).

What really inspires me is writing with @strangeseawolf We write the story in alternating toots, and it's really fun to have two captains on a ship in an ocean of absurdities. It forces you to directly see and work with very different approaches.

I've seen most of the hashtags mentioned here already, but last week, I noticed which gives an insight into how other writers approach romance.

331 — Has your MC ever desired the feeling of a fresh start, or a better understanding of themselves and / or the world around them?

Connor's worst moment was when his pack fell apart. When his leader turned out to be cheater, when he turned against his own second, over a woman.

He does get a fresh start, ending up as the pack leader himself, albeit of a demoralized and injured few men. Still, he does the best he can.

2405.31 — Do your MCs enjoy games that are more physical or intellectual?

Wintereyes has never heard of... What did you call that? Games? She'd be interested in learning more about Township people if you would be willing to teach her.

The devil-girl is familiar with the concept of games, and she's done role playing games—as in trying to act the part of various people she might deal with in social situations (estate parties) or in real life (tenant farmers, officials, miners, petty rulers, etc.) Doing well meant she'd face less anxiety when hosting or negotiating with real people. Social anxiety was one of the many reasons she would later run away.

Things like board games or sports games? She wouldn't see the point. She was a prizefighter. Though people considered it a sport, that was never a game for her. It was how she would earn tuition and hone her fighting skills, and get sucked into the mob.

So physical or intellectual? She'd definitely enjoy physical games better.

331 — Has your MC ever desired the feeling of a fresh start, or a better understanding of themselves and / or the world around them?

Yes. Disappearing and starting fresh is a recurring theme with her. She's done it a few times.

My devil-girl values her freedom to pursue her interests (thaumaturgy) over practically anything. But for a single book, she has no attachments to anything material. She lives as an ascetic. Threaten her people and it won't end well. She will do most anything, if she feels she is learning or stretching herself. And, when she's pressured to do what annoys or bores her, or you have the temerity to threaten her, she will state clearly that she will disappear on your ass if you don't stop. No idle threat, that. She ended up running the syndicate when the Doña died (and no comment about who was responsible for the Doña's death), then ghosted the organization two weeks later taking nothing with her. She'd gotten rid of the undesirables first and was just sooo done with it all the flapping headaches.

Gute Nacht, Freunde.

Slow day. Wrote 450 words for Sun in the morning, survived the office, grabbed groceries on my way home.

Played a LOT of Valheim. Starting to feel comfortable in the Swamp. Time to tackle the boss, methinks.

Didn't take screenshots - the Swamp is a dreary, dark place.

This is an important and interesting article. It primarily focuses on traditional publishing, but it does highlight the challenges inherent in marketing. I'm not good at pretending to be someone or something I'm not, especially in the service of my art.

330 How does your MC go about expressing or not expressing their sexuality?

Any expression of sexuality is largely accidental. Whenever it is on purpose, she's not subtle about it and bluntly drops her clothes mid-conversation.

She accidentally reveals her attraction to Cedric by beating him in combat training and restraining him on his knees with a couple of ghost vines. The mutual blush on their faces was a little too obvious to ignore.

#wordweavers 30 Writing from the POV of a child?

It took a little getting used to and some in-depth interviews with my three-year-old nephew (Did you know happiness is made of grandma and pancakes?), but I finally managed to write Freya as a two-year-old, including a train of thought that matches her age.

I'm comfortable with it, but it certainly is not easy. I like child characters to have personalities, but I also dislike it when they're portrayed as adults.

#WritersCoffeeClub 30/5: How do you achieve a sense of wonder in your stories?

Uh.

This is not something I plan and plot on purpose. I just go and explore the world and watch my characters run into trouble and try to survive it.

All of my worlds have some kind of magic in it (or science, which is close enough), and all of them have an element of discovery, of something hidden and unknown to be revealed.

I suppose that works for me, and I hope it works for the readers.
