Last year I smelled their lovely scent everywhere in #Tirana, drowning the air pollution somewhat to the background: #Jasmine. Inspired, I planted some. Now I will have the scent in my own garden soon ... It is starting to bloom 🥰

Amazing mountain scenery today on the #CrossBorderBus from #Tirana to #Skopje today.

On the side of the road, one could also see the defunct single train track from Elbasan to Prremjas ( #Albania) and the (seemingly active) single train track from Ohrid (#NorthMacedonia) north.

Would be nice for the EU to support candidate countries‘ rail where possible, wouldn’t it be @jon?

Last week I was lucky to be in Tirana, Albania for work. I loved every bit of the dualistic city:

• Old traces of communism in architecture vs new buildings
• Air pollution vs the scent of blooming jasmine everywhere
• Angry, chaotic traffic vs the lovely, friendly people
• Old retired men vs the young folk at their bars
• Absolute chaos in noises of honking, of airconditioning exhausts, the (the later, the louder)
