I just saw "Matrix 5" is in the works. When will Hollywood start producing new content instead of rebooting, remaking, or putting out the 5-10th installment of existing movies over and over again. Same goes for TV IMO.
I'm reminded of a bit from "The Simpsons" about Charles Bronson in "Death Wish 9."
Today, May 10, is Springfield’s annual “Whacking Day”, when citizens drive snakes to the center of town and club them. It was invented in 1924 as an excuse to beat Irish immigrants (The Simpsons, s04e20 “Whacking Day”, 1993)
Now I have my own kid, I downloaded a whole bunch of animated TV shows I used to watch when I was a kid.
One of them is #Rugrats and watching it today, as an adult, there are clearly a lot of things I didn't understand in the show. It still holds up. It's really fun to watch with my daughter.
Often watching these old shows sends me down a rabbit hole of research about the production and I learnt that the soundtrack was made by Mark Mothersbaugh, lead singer of #DEVO (a band, who I also love).
37 years ago today (April 19) in 1987, the first Simpsons short "Good Night" aired on The Tracey Ullman show. I wasn't watching (I was 7), but I was watching when the Simpsons aired as its own series a couple years later.
The Simpsons is a show that has remained relevant all these years thanks to its inclusion of issues that plague modern society. Episode 764 isn't going to be any different:
《Marge gets a job in a high-pressure ghost kitchen, but when she tries to start a union, she gets more than she collectively bargained for.》
The Megilat Ham-Ed—the Scroll of the Steam Portions of Cham, recited in the original Hebrew in the manner of the Megillah.
“1 And it was after these things, and there was a man from the city of the Field of Spring and his name was Shalmer, the great supervisor over all its learnings. 2 And it was one day, and Shalmer rose and went by Simor Haskiner, administrator of the school house, and he came to the entrance of his house. 3 And Shalmer said to him, saying: "Lo, Simor, behold I have come before thee, for I have transgressed thine instructions." 4 And Simor answered and said, "Ah, my lord supervisor! 5 Peace be upon thee, and I hope that thou mayest be prepared for a feast not to be forgot!" And Shalmer groaned and came after him.”
This time I'm comparing the story structure of Mario Wonder with The Simpsons. Specifically looking at plot beats and how they work, hoping to understand how to say more with less.
Nancy Cartwright is a voice actor most famous for an array of characters on The Simpsons. This includes the iconic voice of Bart. Here she shares 7 of them in direct succession.
I've watched so much Simpsons in my life, (I've seen every episode multiple times) but little weird things I still notice. I'm sure many have noticed this, and it's on the wiki page linked here, but in the Simpsons intro, one of the magazines at the supermarket is 'Feeble' 🤣
