Today, April 20, 1910, renowned American author Mark Twain leaves Earth to keep his appointment with Halley’s Comet (The Adventures of Mark Twain, 1985, dir. Will Vinton)
Sometimes I wish there were more #stopmotion#anime As they are easier to make, less drawing is needed, if you make your own custom characters made in figures, from there you just got to snap your frames then add in audio and sounds later.
It can be time consuming, but also time saving.
Stop motion also takes less technical skill to do something simple then simplified 2D #animation Lower skill curve, leaves room to create something great for more people.
STOPMOTION is fantastic. Eerie & unsettling, with genuinely disturbing sound throughout that was like anti-ASMR to me. Ugh. I hated/loved it. But together with the visuals and story, it all combined to be a remarkable, disturbing, frightening film about Creation and Inspiration. This would be a perfect double feature with MAY (2002).
*This is a Shudder movie but is only avail VOD for now. It's coming to Shudder in a couple months.
The House was a great little movie. 3 vignettes set in the past, present and future. First a genuinely creepy gothic horror, about the origin of the house. Then a Kafkaesque modern nightmare about renovating it for sale. Finally, a near future story about trying to restore it, by turns whimsical and melancholy, with a surprisingly upbeat ending.
All animated in gorgeously detailed stop motion, with fabric, in contrast to the Aardman 'claymation' style.
Today, February 16, in 2009, Coraline and her mother shop for a school uniform in a Presidents' Day sale. Coraline wants to buy some cool striped knitted gloves, but her mom won't let her get them—so Coraline decides to appeal to her Other Mother (Coraline, 2009, @neilhimself)

I just learned about "Bad Apple". It's a more than 10 years old black and white animation that people have been playing back on any kind of hardware or medium (the original song was a chiptune from 1998). The animation is on youtube with 81 million views and there are C64 and tesla coil versions of it. But the most amazing one is this #StopMotion animation that's more than just 6000 printed frames: it also relies on camera pans on the animator's desk.
Cleaning up the things
you left behind.
Are you on to find
some peace of mind?
Are you aware of the mess
you left behind?
Scared to think away the cheer.
Looking back in the mirror,
it all becomes clear.
Our views are not the same.
I see sun.
You see rain.
Next Wallace and Gromit will be 'last ever' as Aardman says it's running out of clay (www.joe.co.uk) Polish
Aardman differs from most other major animation studio because of its use of Lewis Newsplast to mould its characters....
