For a few minutes today I was 7 years old again. I was at the Grand Rapids Comic Con to meet Bin Furuya, the original #Ultraman from the 1960s series. I was obsessed with it since the 70s.
He will be 80 this year, and he's a lovely man. He did the motion capture for the film Shin Ultraman, released last year.
I've gone to cons since the late 80s,and this was up there with meeting Nichelle Nichols. It was totally worth the drive.
I adored S1 of Picard (IMO the single best season of Trek ever), and thought S2 was okay (but a big step down). I thought #TheNextGeneration was generally bad television, so my hopes for this season are not high.
Especially since I read the showrunner wants this to be a better finale to NextGen than #Nemesis was, and I thought Nemesis was one of the best NextGen stories.
Why can’t she just go get Jack herself, by which I mean send her overwhelming forces to do so?
She’s in charge of the ship. She ought to know where they are. She could just transport him to the bridge, yes? But even without that, we’ll, overwhelming forces.
This plan seems ridiculously complicated for the Borg.
Also, how can the Changelings think they’d come out of an alliance with the Borg intact? Though I guess it was an insurgent group, and those aren’t noted for their nuanced long-term thinking.
