It’s a real bummer that the pointless videos that I make showing off a #Linux distro get more views than when I make a video about how to/tools to use to make your linux system more #secure. Any video that I’ve done pertaining to #security gets waaay less views. And it’s not about the views, it just goes to show that even people in the Linux community don’t care all that much about security sometimes 😅

All our keys share open source hardware and firmware, because we believe that security should be more open, especially when it comes to hardware. Our keys are verified, trustworthy and hide no secrets.
For decades police/military/intel agencies/critical infrastructure in 120 nations relied on #TETRA#radio standard to #secure#critical#comms. But #Dutch researchers examined #secret#algorithms used in TETRA and found something startling - an intentional backdoor.
This and other problems the researchers found with TETRA would allow malicious actors to decrypt communications and also, in some cases, send malicious commands to critical infrastructure or send fake messages to police/military radios to disrupt their operations
TETRA uses 80-bit keys in its encryption algorithms, but the researchers found that one of these algorithms has a secret reduction feature that reduces the key to 32 bits - which the researchers were able to crack in less than 1 minute using standard laptop and just 4 ciphertexts
SimpleX Chat – #private and #secure#opensource messenger without user IDs of any kind (not even random numbers) – v5.2 with message delivery receipts and more stable message delivery is now released to App Store and Play Store!
I want to switch to a #secure and reliable #email provider. I'm currently using MS 365 Business Basic (or whatever they're calling it these days) and have looked at #ProtonMail and #Tutanota. Unfortunately, it seems the former doesn't allow sending from alias addresses, while the latter doesn't support importing from another provider.
Been using #grapheneos for about a week now and I just have to say WOW! I don't think I've ever had an experience on my phone that feels like I'm using my #Linux desktop/laptop. The amount of control this OS gives back to me that google and apple took away is staggering. I know no piece of tech is 100% #private or #secure . But damn is this close!
Is there a server-level configuration option to require authentication? That is, is there an instance operating mode of not serving the instance pages as browsable HTML, but only through #ActivityPub?
Can an instance run dark to the general internet, only its landing/about page serving as unauthenticated webpages, and otherwise only accessible via direct authentication or ActivityPub?
#Proton is well-respected company that provides some of the most #secure products available, including #encrypted#email options and #VPN.
I've considered moving from #Gmail for a while, and just this week downgraded my Proton #Visionary account to free (for now) because I've taken so long to decide.
Maybe now is the time, especially since it's easy to use both, seamlessly.
In the past I've found #problems in #software, problems with #websites, with bureaucratic processes, some of which were significant, but they all pale in comparison to this one.
4/13 I have long used their automated phone system to #refill#prescriptions, but to date, I had resisted signing up for any #online#services with the pharmacy I deal with, because I lacked confidence in their ability to build and operate such services in a #secure fashion.
Boy, did I turn out to be right.
I decided to sign up for their website services this week because I had some things I wanted to check, and didn't want to take too much of their time on the phone.
