Here is the cover for From Typewriters to Twitter:Celebrating 50 Years of Science Writing -- my pet project during the pandemic. (Pretty excited about this)

This might be the only book that chronicles science writing/ in A digital version is available for free to members of the SWCC (after you log onto the website a link should appear under About). Non-members should contact the association directly and ask (not sure if there's a small fee or if it's free too?). 92 pages, lots of historical photos, short bios of some extraordinary and often eccentric and high-profile writers who helped shaped Canada's science writing landscape. Controversies! Romance! Serious stuff! Fun stuff! The impactful awards program! This book had input from over 20 people who played various roles in the association. This isn't an in-depth analysis, but chronicles important events and an evolving media association. There are no plans at this point for a print copy, but if interested send a note to the SWCC office expressing interest.

HEADS UP HEADS UP HEADS UP! There is a LOT of serious (really serious, this time) talk, of #SciComm users finally (FINALLY!) exiting the avian droppings container. On the hellsite, off the hellsite, in the scientific journals and magazines, they're finally discussing it. THIS THE BEST NEWS EVER. Follow #MedMastodon #science #ScienceUpFirst #medicine #SARSCoV2 #COVID #COVID19 for all the latest updates and I will post my list of early adopters I've saved below:

Dr. Peter Hotez, professor of pediatrics and molecular virology and microbiology at Baylor College of Medicine has been attacked all weekend by Musk and Rogan on the bird site. Dr Hotez is a vaccine scientist and a threat to disinformation con artists like the two twits mentioned above. He will have a new book out soon and it is important to spread his book title message far and wide.

@objectinspace I disagree. The whole point of the disinformation network is to make their arguments sound legitimate. When you debate them, they can claim their point of view is thus worthy. This is now a common tactic. They want to promote their podcast, website, blog, etc. They can make a lot of money that way with total disregard for the health/lives of people who could be influenced by them.

Misinformation + ideology = tough combo!

"A strong partisan bias emerged for both veracity judgments and sharing decisions..."

"...sharing decisions were largely unaffected by actual information veracity."

"...partisan bias was a stronger & more reliable predictor of susceptibility than truth sensitivity."
