Does anyone else have a ~code folder on all their non-server computers?
Music, Videos, Pictures, Documents, .... code, etc.
I have that for source code that I write (each project in a git repo below) and then there's ~code/contrib for repos I've cloned or source I've downloaded.
Everything gets built with a prefix of /opt/local. System stays nice and clean and I have all the custom stuff.

Anyone else have loose change sitting on your desk because you hate having it in your pockets but you don't really have anywhere to put it? 🙋♂️
I thought about buying the #AirPodsMax multiple times now. But the fact that they still load with Lightning is so weird. Especially as they have no type of MagSafe.
I still use the AirPods Pro 2 and they're okay, but recently I don't really like in-ear headphones and would like to have an alternative that has all features AirPods have. So there is not really the option to search outside of the Apple cosmos.
The AirPods Max are in their fourth year without an upgrade so it's probably better to still wait a few months.
Something I struggle with: Accepting not being liked by everyone. I can barely have disagreements with ppl in real life. I get physically ill. I can feel my blood pressure rise, my temp going up, my face turning red. Not out of anger, but just out of some kind of fear or anxiety. I start to quiver. Mom cried instantly during any disagreement. I guess I got it from her.
Online, I get this feeling when someone I like is critical of me or my work in a way that feels unfair. #randomthoughts

Back in the 90s (and I think in the 70s and 80s), the #Philippines had a plan and proposal to create a major (I think) semi-autonomous(?) #HongKong in the country. The objective was to give Hong Kong'ers a new place to call home and conduct their business after the transfer of the city back to mainland #China.
This plan and proposal did not push through because the Hong Kong government officials accepted the proposal of mainland China: 1 country, 2 systems.
Today, from what I've read the past few months, Hong Kong'ers are migrating to other countries, leaving Hong Kong behind. There were also reports of how many residences are practically a ghost town, or ghost buildings, today.
I wonder, if the Hong Kong government at that time chose the proposal of the Philippines to migrate Hong Kong in the Philippines, what would Hong Kong be today? It will also affect the Philippines greatly. Finally, the geopolitics in Asia-Pacific will be largely different. (Probably the Philippines will be in more danger from China. ^^;; )
Services which still blocks your account for supposedly “suspicious activity”, even though you have #TwoFactorAuthentication, is like saying “we don't trust our own #2FA system” and/or “we don't trust you, we think you shared your 2FA secret with someone”.
I don't know. If it is the latter, that's user-error and their problem. If we continue solving user-error issues, the end-user will never learn anything.
Is 2FA perfect? Of course not. But it is far less likely for an account to be compromised if 2FA is enabled (without user-error).
So, accounts with 2FA should not be included in the “we temporarily blocked your account because of suspicious activity”. If there was indeed a legitimate unauthorised account access, due to user-error, let the user deal with it and learn from it. Otherwise, what's the use of 2FA?
In the gaming industry, some companies actually do that. If your account has 2FA enabled, they automatically remove your account from IP address checks. This allows the account owner to freely use VPNs without getting banned because of IP jumps. They don't mention it officially, but you can test it. If you disable 2FA and use VPNs, you'll get banned sooner or later (and have to go through a lengthy verification process). If you have 2FA enabled, you're free to use VPNs all you want.
(We're not talking about [gaming] services where they have regional licensing deals. They will indeed ban your account if you use a VPN because it is a restriction due to the regional licensing deals in place.)
I dunno, just #RandomThoughts. It's a hassle to suddenly see you're temporarily blocked even though you have 2FA enabled anyway. (Some services will even disable your 2FA because they assumed you shared your 2FA secret.)
Sure, there are people who keep a copy of their 2FA secret in unsecure ways. That still falls under user-error. 2FA secrets should not be kept, at least that's how it was designed. If a user wants to keep it, then encrypt it and store it somewhere. For example, use #Cryptomator.

I’m about 80% through a sabbatical grant application. The proposed project is to write a TTRPG. So hopefully that’ll happen.
The Ninth World Bestiary is about to make my Numenera table really uncomfortable. Yay.
My last BFRPG session was a bottle episode. It was intense.
I’ve got my Land of Eem review outlined. It’s going to take a bit to edit it, though, so I’ll be recording another video today that’ll go live first.
